Oil leak?

Hey guys/gals

I was checking out my engine the other day (as usual lol) and I noticed a spot that looked wet on top of my valve cover. When I felt it, it seemed like oil, but I'm not totally sure what it is. Here's a pic of the location (not my engine but still):

What do you think it could be? An oil leak? Is this normal? Should I be worried? My oil is low, I spent some time in VTEC but nothing too extravagant. I know the h22 is bad for eating oil but I'm running full synthetic and I'm at 3k miles and iI don't think I should be low right now.

Re: Oil leak?

when you were sweating a drop fell off your face on top of your motor, and because you have a greasy mug, it felt oily

I really dont know. I'm sorry broski. Its only 1 drop though. Dont sweat it unless you KNOW its leaking.

**EDIT**
And it was on top of your VC. So... when does leaking fall up??

Re: Oil leak?

There's a bolt there where I have circled, and it's "leaking" from that bolt. Here's a picture of MY engine in that spot:

What could it be if it's not an oil leak? Nothing to worry about?

Re: Oil leak?

As already stated try tightening 1st. If it keeps up you need a new #13 in this link.

http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.a...ViewParts=true

Start by getting it cleaned up and then check it after evey drive over the next couple days.

Re: Oil leak?

Yeah that was it. When I went to check it, it was almost hand-loose. I don't have a torque wrench, but I just tightened it down securely. What would happen if it were too tight?

The threads are easy to screw up on those studs

you dont have to take the head off to get that stud off... just a 10mm closed wrench

Re: Oil leak?

Yeah I know, I just was saying that to take the head off I would need to take that bolt out, and if it was stripped it would make it a lot harder
