2000 Door Lock Motor Replacement,,,Help..

My 2000 Lude passenger door lock motor gave up. What's involved in replacing the door lock motor? I have the motor, just need to know whether I have to pull the entire door panel or if I can get away with just pulling the door pull, manual lock and tweeter insert in the door panel.

Thanks guys!

Re: 2000 Door Lock Motor Replacement,,,Help..

while i'm looking this up, are you 100% sure the motor crapped out on you? Are you hearing any strange sounds? i would start by pulling the interior door handle and checking to see if there is any reaction at all on the metal hook when hitting the switch.

Is it acting up with the remote and the actual door lock button when the doors are closed and ignition is switched "Off"?

Trust me on this it will make your life easier to just remove the entire door panel.

This is true just b/c 5th gen door handles are really easy to take off.

before that though, just for sh!ts and giggles...

Check Fuses:

Under the hood:

No. 43 (7.5A) --> controls one of the Multiplex door control units

No. 46 (10A) --> keyless receiver unit

No. 44 (10A) --> another multiplex unit

Under the dash:

No. 21 (10A) --> keyless receiver unit

As for the lock motors, they are actually called actuators and are probably the most simple part of the door lock system. That is why we need some more info for troubleshooting. doorlock problems can be a bish for sure.

Good call Mdtdnb, also check the plugs from you engine bay to your door, sometimes those can come loose, which would mess your locks up to. But its possible for a certain wire to corrode out, or fall out.

Re: 2000 Door Lock Motor Replacement,,,Help..

The door handle / manual lock lever move freely. When you try to lock/unlock the pass. lock with either the switch in the driver's door or the passenger door, the lock lever only moves about 1/3 of the way. Same for the remote.

I think the motor has given up. I have a new replacement from Honda. Just need to know what the easiest way to replace it is, whether I can get to it by just removing the door pull / lock lever panel or if the entire door panel has to come off.

Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate the help.

Thanks, V1

Re: 2000 Door Lock Motor Replacement,,,Help..

you will definitely have to pull the door panel but to get to the actuator. For your sake though i hope that is the problem and it's not an issue with the latch. the lock has go through that first too and that thing sucks to work on. Make sure your window up while you do all this btw.

Re: 2000 Door Lock Motor Replacement,,,Help..

Thanks. Good advice guys. I'll remove the panel to keep it simple. I'm betting it's the motor. It worked for awhile, now it just barely moves the manual lock lever.

Thanks again for all of your replies.
