WEIRD check engine light

Alright so just yesterday my 00 prelude with 102,000 miles threw the check engine light on me. I checked the code and it's Code #8 which is the Crank position/ Top dead center sensor.

I read a few places that it could mostly be my distributor. now the thing is that i dont even need to turn on the engine for the check engine light to come on. I just put it the car on ON, and the check engine light stays on when it usually would turn off after a few seconds.

So my question is what do you guys think could be the culprit?
Appreciate all your help guys

Re: WEIRD check engine light

Reset the code and see if it clears and wait and see if it comes back on. You can either dis connect the battery for a little bit or pull a certain fuse I think the radio fuse? I forget either one will reset your computer. I would try that first before replacing any parts.

Also I have heard guys having extended warranties on their cars and dealerships relpace the dizzy, wires, plugs, cap and rotor for free. Might want to check that out if you have the extended warranty.
