Headlight housing paint.

My friend brought to my attention to paint the housing on my headlights red. The whole exterior of my car is pretty much red (discluding the grill), and what i guess im tryin to ask is do you think it would look good?

I honestly think it would look a bit gaudy. Just do it black you can never go wrong with that!

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Open them up and paint the bezels if you must. But unless you get a perfect match to the exterior paint (which even if you do, it will look off because it's behind the lens) it will look off. If you paint the bezel black the contrast looks excelent. I've seen it done on a few cars, (not just Preludes) and it always looks great, adds to the toughness of the front end.

Painting the housing itself usually (i've not seen itdone on a Prelude, but on a lot of other cars) looks like you dropped the car off at a cheap paint shop and they forgot to mask off the headlights.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Personally I think so. If you really want red headlights, I'd look at a set of eyelids, but even then most don't look right.

Here's an example of what it looks like on a white prelude (projector retrofit):

Personally I don't really like it.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

I can't really imagine what just painting the bezels looks like, but I'm a firm believer in the whole "Honda kind of knows what they're doing" thing. I'm all for personalization, but black housings always look better than custom housings.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Yeah, but it'd look good even if your car weren't black, black goes with everything.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

OMG, that white housing looks so disguisting...if you really want red I would go red on the bezels and then black on the housing?

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Well, the Honda Fit looks good with a little bit of the car color in the headlight so it might look okay in a Lude if you only do the bezels.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

i think the only cars that look good with painted headlights are a 3000gt or the c6 vette...and i really dont like the fit. but yeah dont do it imo.

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Does anyone have an example of what the bezels would look like painted, so this guy has some point of reference?

Re: Headlight housing paint.

Like i said, im not gonna do anything.
I think black housing only looks good on black cars.
Other than that, i might bust a photoshop mission just to see what it looks like.
But for now, school, and work are killing me with time.
