Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

That happened to one of my buddies once. A little elbow grease and a big hammer fixed the problem in about 15 minutes. But obviously a hammer is going to fawk up the finish on your rim. Let a pro do it, it shouldn't be an UNGODLY amount of money. If you say it's not losing air and you can drive on it, it should be fine, but still, get it fixed as soon as possible. You don't want to have a blow out going 75 do you?

a hammer and a piece of wood is a bit easier on the finish

Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

My friend used a rubber hammer and it did the job. I heard of people using the wood too. Do that for now. Take it to a rim shop and get it fix when your ready. Sorry to hear that. that must of been some hole. Happen to me too early in the summer. I got a new rim. By looking at the pic it's not that bad. You rims are black so when they heat it up to bend it back in shape it should not look that bad. There is a good shop in LI. I'll try to find the Name and # for you.

Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

That does suck, but a dented rim isnt the end of the world. my .02 cents is that, if thats all you gotta worry about in life, your doing alright my friend.

as for me i need, all new susp, bushings, 3 wheel bearings, paint, and a rebuild, and maybe my car will be decent then. consider yourself lucky

Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

Cheapest and kindest way to do it would be to put tape on the lip of the rim to prevent further damage to the surface. Then put a block of wood on it and hit it with your BFH. The wood will evenly distribute the force of the hammer as well as protect it and the tape is just added protection to your wheel finish.

Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

If you still have the receipt for your rims purchase...you can contact the Department of Transportation (VDOT in Virginia). Let them know what happened...show them your rim and what hole that caused it and they should give you money for a new rim. Then they will finally fix the damn hole that caused the problem.

I have heard people do this before here in VA...might as well give it a shot.

Buddy of mine did that here in Missouri. He bent one of his 18s on a 04 Grand Am and MoDot bought him a new one.

take a titanium hammer to it broski, as long as the ride isnt any different and its not leaking air, just bang it back to its normal shape, maybe a body work hammer

Re: hit a hole WTF HELP

A quick way to check if you loosing air, take a soaked sponge or paper towel and press it up against the area where it's bent between the tire beads and rims, if you see bubbling your loosing air.

Welcome to owning larger wheels sizes w/ lower profile tires

That sucks, but yes it doesn't look as bad as the pic under yours, does it still hold air?

I couldn't tell are yours chrome? and also what are they made of aluminium?
Might be cheaper just to buy one new rim, if possible.
