What do you think of painting interior trim?

OK guys I have been thinking what to do for a while now. I really want to do some type of trim color on the lude, I have all black with leather. I don't really like the honda wood or CF trim kits tho... What do you guys think if I really took my time and did a really good job of spray painting some of the trim pieces silver?

I personally would do something that doesn't stand out too much, maybe a dark gun metal.

Re: What do you think of painting interior trim?

Im not a big fan of painting the interior. It looks ok if you do it right but most of the time it will start chipping away after a year and look a lot worse than it did in the first place.

I did the same thing Bill did, except I did my side air vents too. It evens it out and still looks clean.

not the best picture because it wasn't supposed to be of them, but you get the idea.

And don't make fun of the ricer pedals and lights... they're gone now

Oh, did I miss a "referral"?

Re: What do you think of painting interior trim?

Painting the removable interior parts body colour looks good in just about any car, just about all of the time. 99PreludeSH's idea of a gunmetal also usually looks great.

If you're clever, you could airbrush it to make it look like brushed aluminium. Look a bit like a race car IMO. But with no other "race car" kind of interior mods, it can look a bit try hard.

^^^ I've actually seen a trick used where you spray 3 coats of silver, then take 1000-500 grit sandpaper and very softly sand it vertically. Then spray 3 coats of clear over it and it gives an incredible effect.

^^^ I hate autos... long story about mine, involving parents not helping with insurance if I got a manual.

Long story short though, with all these new cars coming with silver interior accents, it really doesn't look out of place as long as you don't go overboard.

Re: What do you think of painting interior trim?

The radio bezel and window switch trim painted to match the car looks good.

Bill, thought about painting your speaker covers? It'd look even better on your car as it is silver, and your radio bezel is alreadysilver. Look in the DIY section for a write-up I did.

If I had the money, I'd get brush aluminum pieces made, not just the sticker.

Re: What do you think of painting interior trim?

when ever you do interior painting, try and keep it stock looking, if your gonna do a wildass color, you might as well take it to pimp my ride and say "here, here is my car, i wanted to know if you guys could destroy it for me" "and put a fishtank and jiccuzzzi in my rear seats" thankyou
