alright so...

after seeing broncosi and his fancy new projectors

i have decided i will try the ebay route and see what happens.

now i have found 2 possible canidates that i like and here they are:

canidate #1

Canidate #2

my question is which one looks better?

i kinda like #2 because of the black bumper lights

but #1 i kinda like the halo better.

so which one should i pick and why?

eh..#1 would look dumb in my opinion, cuz your going to hook up the halo and the lights behind the projector as your parking lights...if anything im going to get number 2, and just roll with halo's and my usdm fogs =D

TSX retros are what i have. they are a TSX projector retrofitted into the stock housing. they are plug and play. but they are a lot more expensive then the ebay sets though. there are also cheeper retrofits available with other projectors from BMW's brian (prelude1897) but still, more expensive. PM him for more info.

BUT as for your choices, i couldn't tell you which ones i like better. the pictures are blocked on the first one. but the 2nd one i could see and in all honesty, i think they're hideous.

Re: alright so...

i think both are hideous. ebay projectors just arent the way to go. if you've got the extra just save a lil more and get the retros done. i've got the s2k ap1 projectors retrofitted in mine, and they are super badass. stylistically they are sleek yet agressive and compliment the prelude rather than getting headlights that are like HEY LOOK AT ME I DONT BLEND WITH THIS CAR AT ALL!! and the light output is amazing.

listen to this dude. ^ he's the bad ass among bad asses. his username doesn't lie, it is 1 bad bb6. and the lights are what make it a bad bb6. IMO the ebay lights LOOK like ebay lights. they look cheep. the tsx or s2k retrofit look real and original and actually compliment a prelude.

Re: alright so...

1. Better light ouput
2. Retros are true HIDs
3. Ebay halos are not HID compatable
4. Ebay halos look cheap and aren't very reliable and a good chance they won't fit right
5. You get what you pay for
6. You'll look like a baller with Retros
Keep the stock lights for now, you're half way there towards retros, once you go retro you never go back.

Re: alright so...

Idk, i really want halos, but i dont know what the hell all this retrofit stuff means...

i tried to look around in like the exterior section for help on lights, but there wasn't any.

my biggest thing is i want black housing head lights.

plus my headlights are all ****ed up and i dont know why. which means i would have to buy new ones, then get them "retrofitted" or whatever the heck that is.

Re: alright so...

Alright, i'm going to do my best to break down what a retrofit is, if i'm wrong on any infor someone please correct me.

Ever look at the headlights of a bmw, s2k, or tsx and see the little projector light in there? Retrofitting is taking your stock Prelude lights, cutting them, and "retrofitting" the projector and ballast to be used in your headlight. Ever been a passenger in a BMW with the lights on at night? Light out put is amazing isn't it? That's retrofitting to my knowlege but if anyone wants to correct me or add to it go ahead.

np you are learning.

retrofitting is basically a modification involving cutting one thing away and fitting a new and usually better item in place of the old thing.

Official definition: Retrofit: To install or fit (a device or system, for example) for use in or on an existing structure

So with these lights, you (or they) take part of the TSX light and install it into your Prelude light.

If you really want halos then get them...but they dont provide any great lighting which could be dangerous. Make sure you find out if the lense is glass or plastic...you want it to be glass imo.

Re: alright so...

i just dont understand this

i thought that the halos just went around the actual light?

i dont need any lights that i can see for 6456456 miles with, i want halos cause i think they look good.

i drive my car to school and back which is about 10 miles round trip, then to work and back, which is only like 4 miles for a round trip.

rarely drive at night.

im sooooooooooooo lost lol

There are a ton of writeups on how to clean up your headlights. And there is a way to re aim you lights, don't ask me how though. I guess if you want halos get them, they won't be bmw angel eye quality though and once the burn out they're gone.

Re: alright so...

If you want new stock lights that are black housing then get depo ones. Even Brian(1897) had good things to say about depo's. If you want light output and sexiness, get the retro's. Thats what I'm getting btw, as soon as brian comes back from vacation. If you want halos.. dont get those hideous ebay ones you have in the op.

Re: alright so...

i might be mistaken, but i remember brian saying he can retrofit halos in the prelude housing... but i imagin its a lot extra. aligning headlights is easy, there are 2 gear sets on the back of the headlights. one for aiming up and down the other for aiming side to side the top one aims side to side the bottom one aims up and down.. stick a phillips screwdriver (#2) into the little slot provided above the gears and turn the screwdriver until they are aimed where you want them. also there is a little level on the inboard side of the healdlight when you open up the hood. you want the bubble to be in the middle of the level. if they lens is just hazy, you can clean that up with some plasti-x. brian does one hell of a damn good job cleaning up headlights when he retrofits them. brian will even blacken the housing if you want.

You just have to wait another month for him to get back in the country.

You can get Depo's for around $250, and they look stock. Just get them shipped to him and have him ship them to you. Depending on which retros you go with, you can do all that for under a grand.

There you go. You can always get them retrfitted later on down the road, or save your stockers and send them to Brian, he'll even paint them black for you.

Re: alright so...

ok let me give you a side by side comparison. the first one is an upclose pic of my retrofitted headlight. and the second is a pic of the option #2 ebay lights. look at these and then tell me what you think. just trust me when i say the wait is worth it.
