bought a 97 prelude this weekend?

Ok so I got this 97 lude with 137000 miles on it for 3500. I know good. So took it out and race buddy of mine thinking I was bad and had the faster car finally. Well he has a 01 vw jetta tdi with upgraded nozzels bigger turbo. And he still whipped me like I was driving my 91 prelude allover again. my question is what can I do short of getting a turbo myself. I have the cold air intake aftermarket pulleys for the powersteering and alternator, dc headers. What can I get to up grade my engine with spending thousands of dollars. Should I get performance injectors,if so where can I get some other stuff at on the web?

So you raced your lude not knowing what kind of condition it was in? Also you should know this site does not like or frowns apon street racing.

1. I think aftermarket pulley on your steering and alternator just weakin your charging for as little power it adds, IMO.

2. with or without spending thousands of dollars, I'm a bit confused on that.

If you want to spend a couple thousand dollars then I recommend this

http://www.turboneticsinc.com/produc...category_id=62

You can probably run it at 8psi and be able to compete with your buddy.

Doing the turbo will probably be the cheapest way to get power, because if you are trying to go NA then your looking at alot of money.
Good luck

I recommend checking out the forced induction section found here
http://preludezone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

If you want to go NA check this out
http://preludezone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Just start doing some searching in those places and you'll find out what you need to do.

Lol street racing. What we do is far from street I live in central Illinois in corn fields and country roads. So where we race it is not street but abandoned roads. but thanks for the info.

If you're operating a vehicle above the speed limit on a road, a street, or a driveway, and participating in a contest of speed, it's street racing. PZ.com isn't down, yo.

Hey rob, so your saying you can use that turonetics setup with the link provided on stock internal? But only up to 8 psi, correct?

hey easy on the fuddydudi shyt. LOL

this is what you wanna do if you dont' wanna go turbo...

Intake, Header (which you have), Collector Mod, HiFlow Cat, Cat Back Exhaust, Cams, Retainers, Valve Springs, go OBD1, chip the OBD1 ECU, get it tuned!
there is a lot more you can do but this is all affordable and will put you over 200whp!

Re: bought a 97 prelude this weekend?

If you want to go fast for cheap you should have bought another car. Ludes cost $ to go fast, weight is not on our side. Bolt ons will only get you so far, just look around and do some research. Plus ludes look 100times better than Jettas.
