Headlight covers

I actually have time to clean up my car. My passenger light cover is dirty, from the inside. How do i take that light off? I was thinkin you have to take the bumper off to do so, but is there an easier way?

Re: Headlight covers

You'll need to heat up the oven. That's ok, because you'll need time to remove the bumper. Once you've got the bumper off, a long extension ratchet/socket set will be requried. Well, not required, but it makes life a lot easier.

Then stick the headlight in the oven, until the glue around the lens has started to go soft.

Any other way than a oven?
It doesn't seem like there is glue on them.

oven is the fastest way. and there is glue/sealant holding the lens to the housing.
the other way is to take a heat gun to it, which takes muchhhh longer, and not alotta ppl have heat guns.

Re: Headlight covers

Yep, oven ftw, that's how i did mine , set them in tha oven a few minutes, then take em out, gradually pull the headlight apart, clean them up(could also go ahead & black out the insides), re-seal the headlight and bake again to set the re-applied seal, then install:afro:

Re: Headlight covers

I dont think that i have any glue on my passenger.
I bought the car with blue city lights, so thats why i think theres no glue on them.
Where can i get the seal to put back on?

There is glue. You probably just can't see it. Trust us. Here's a pic of my lights.

Re: Headlight covers

Before you go through the trouble of taking it off, maybe you should make sure it's actually on the inside. Try the wetsanding/headlight polishing how-to, and if that doesn't fix it, then it's definitely on the inside.

Rude for pointing you to the search button? WTF? Noobs like you come in and ask questions that have been covered many many times. You need to read the forum rules before posting questions, and watch your mouth, disrespecting members will get you banned.

Re: Headlight covers

Seriously wetsand and polish the outside its a commn mistake everyone makes.Just because it doesnt come off any other way doesnt mean its the inside. It may very well look like it but im sure you can wetsand and polish the outside and it will look as good as new.

You could of been nice about it. But you wanted to be an ass, and be rude on top of that. I did search and i did not find the specific question i was asking. Go try and act like your the shlt in another thread.

Re: Headlight covers

Enough you two. Jimmy was right to tell you to search, but if you didn't find what you were after (as you stated here) then you're all good to start a new thread.

Perhaps next time it would be worth saying in the original post that you did search. I'll admit, the search function on here isn't bad, but it's far from being fantastic.
