2000VtecLude is on a distinguished road
my exhaust.

alright i just got my Tsudo N1 cat back and i can't really get the bolts to unbolt from the cat. i'm guessing its from 8 year old rust or just because of the cooling and heating stuff. but is there anyway that i could do this in my garage? like what kind of tool would i need for it? I can do it in my auto tech class this Tuesday but i really want to get it on before then.
any help would be appreciated

-thanks

Re: my exhaust.

ALOT of WD40 and some really good wrenches. Keep soaking it for a while and then try it (don't round the edges).

Re: my exhaust.

Forget the WD 40 yeah it might help but those bolts are going to get very, very hot and give way and break, save your knuckles the trouble and get yourself a reciprocating saw and cut the bolts off. Then take your cut bolts into any local hardware store and say thats what you need. They have kind of a spline type press fitting but they will come out with a nice rap with a hammer. I wish I remember what size bolt I went with I'm pretty sure it was standard probably only ones on the car Make sure you get lock washers and or some locktite for when you get it bolted back up, also make sure you get another flange gasket.

Re: my exhaust.

the way I did it with my 87 cutlass supreme (with stock exhaust) I used an alligator socket. You can pick them up at home depot I believe. I dont think pep boys or auto zone has them.

Its a socket that fits the exact size of the bolt no matter if its stripped or not. soak it with wd40 and let it sit for 3 hours, then go out soak it 1 more time, wait an hour, and hit it with the alligator or some vice grips.

Re: my exhaust.

Heat them up would work too especially spraying them with pb blaster while their hot. I tried soaking mine I did turn the bolt a bit but sheared it right in two and when I picked up the broken end of the bolt off the ground it burned the s#!t out of my fingers. I didn't heat them up it was just the heat from turing it with the socket wrench (kinetic energy?).

I suggest cutting them and replacing them
