pride?

I love the lude i own to death but i would really like to start modding it out on top of the exhaust on it (rims, headers, intake, etc.). The only thing that is stopping me is the whole persona that that stuff should belong to a 5 speed whereas the one i own is an automatic (5th gen). I just would feel really proud to do all these mods on my own but i do feel like they belong on a 5 speed so i kinda want to sell mine and go for a 5 speed with mods already added on. So i just dont know if i should keep my automatic and mod it or sell mine and get a 5 speed lude with mods already on it...Opinions?

Re: pride?

get all the mods, gather them, sell the slushbox, and get a 5 speed. Then hook it up with all your modifications. youll be wayy happier with a manual I garantee it. And I'm not saying that automatics are bad cars, but since I see you wanna go fast mods, the get a 5 speed all day..

leme start off by saying ...

"header" no S there

And I'm pretty sure I speak for most on here that will tell you...

Get a 5 speed. They are a million times more fun to drive. Plus from what I've heard the Auto on ludes are gross and like to shiit out. They cant handle much more HP then what your car comes with stock.

Get a 5speed even if it isn't modded. Totally stock 5speed is better than auto w/ exhaust.

Re: pride?

If you're feeling really good, you could do an auto->manual swap. Then do the mods. Although it's a lot of work and not for the mechanically light-hearted, you'll get great joy of modding your car.

If you go the route of buying a 5-speed, definitely get a stock one. That way you can learn and have fun modding at the same time!

5speed or auto, whatever you do, do it yourself. not only will you have the pride of knowing that your lude is not just "the car i bought" but "the car i made" ive got an auto and look at me, im kick-ass!

Agreed, but some people dont have the knowledge and/or mechanical ability to swap a 5spd for an auto.

(or the downtime on their car)

Re: pride?

dually noted, however if you look at original post he didnt say he wants to do a 5speed swap. just some rims header(s) and an intake. and furthermore i wish everybody would stop pushing the 5speed swap onto people. even though i would like to do it my own lude.

Re: pride?

If you do decide to go with a 5spd swap, try to find the transmission at a junk yard or for sale locally. Then have someone who knows how swap it. If you are able to find a knowledgeable person in your area (Maybe on a local Lude forum) he would probably swap it for pretty cheap.

Re: pride?

I think I am going to shout on this one to make it clear

SELL THE AUTO AND BUY A 5 SPEED, DONT DO A SWAP ITS A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY YOU COULD USE TO MOD OUT THE 5 SPEED.

There maybe now I might have got thru to someone

If not here is another post on basically the same topic

http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=12733

I know if I search I will find more, no hint there.
