Re: problem

bad synchronizer. Never had to replace one so I'm not sure of cost, but I'm gona guess that it wont be cheap

^I'm almost positive thats it, but wait for other people to chime in, and possibly take it to a shop first. I'm 95% sure its a synchro b/c its only 3rd and 5th (and people dont usually grind those gears out)

Re: problem

clutch n go??? never heard of that place, but look for specialty transmission shops that ONLY do transmissions. Most of the time those guys are ASE certified in transmissions, and know what they are doin, and do nothing else but fix trannys.

I'm surprised they didnt take a stab and say it might be the synchro. Thats what it really sounds like to me.

Re: problem

I'm gona say no.

but I'm not sure on the price of labor on both. Go to a tranny shop and ask for prices and ask to see if its definitely the synchro.
