Icon1 Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

Hey guys, i'm starting to order most of the parts i need for my build, and ive looked around online and on this forum for aftermarket injectors.. i havent found many listings on here for people selling any and i havent been too lucky finding many aftermarket injectors online that are for 5th gens. (mostly everything appears to be for the 4th gen. h23), but i could just be searching in the wrong places..

so basically if anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!
-Mike

I'm not 100% on 5th Gen specs but I'm guessing they're peak and hold. What size injectors are you looking for?

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

well after everything's in and tuned, im shooting for: ~325 fwhp to start, im thinking 550cc's will suffice, unless you would recommend something else..

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

They should be peak and hold, saturated is sh*tty and mostly they don't use them anymore. Even my 4th gen with an F22A has peak and hold.

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

If you're getting 325 whp, I'm assuming you're going to turbo, or already have. As such your Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (B.S.F.C.) is probably going to be around .60 lbs instead of .50 lbs with a naturally aspirated set up. All of the following work was done using the wonderful calculation charts on RC engineering's website.
Calculations use 550 cc/min injectors, maximum 80% duty cycle, .60 B.S.F.C. and 4 injectors.

550 / 10.5 = 52.38 lbs / hr
52.38 x 80% = 41.90
41.90 / .60 = 69.84 hp per injector
69.84 x 4 injectors = 279.37 bhp

As you can see. A 550cc injector with a .60 B.S.F.C. to run turbo will only be good to just about 280 bhp. So I'm pretty sure you're going to need to go bigger if you're trying to get 325 whp. Whats the bhp you're planning on making?

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

might wanna double check your math, cuz i know DSM 450's are good for a max of 320hp.

hell, i'm pushing 250hp through them right now....

unless mine are almost max'ed out. hah

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

Math is all correct. Check the formulas for yourself. RC engineering
And if you're running 450 cc injectors at .50 B.S.F.C. instead of .60 than 450 cc's will cover to 260 bhp, but if you run them at the .60, like they're supposed to be, they only cover to 227 bhp. Unless you're running a higher fuel pressure.

Lets say you're running 350 bhp to get your 325 whp as an example. To get 550cc injectors to cover the 350 bhp you would need to run 69+ PSI of fuel pressure at the rail.

To get your 450cc's to cover your 250 bhp you must be running 53+ PSI of fuel pressure. Speaking of which, what fuel pressure are you running?

Edit: All of the above calculations were for .60 B.S.F.C. If you run 450cc injectors would only be good to 320 hp if you were running 60 PSI fuel pressure and a .50 B.S.F.C. I don't think you want to know what the PSI would be running at .60.

Re: Aftermarket 5th Gen. Fuel Injectors

I havent started putting anything together yet.. i'm still in the process of pricing out parts, doing some math and figuring out some numbers and talking to some people who could help me tune it after all is said and done.. as for now the motor's apart and stock besides the work i just had done to the head.. so as for the current pressure.. its at the stock settings.. for injectors, ive been looking into Precision, Ive heard good things.. 580's look like they'd even be cutting it close but after that they only carry 680's..
