Is it possible to replace 2.0i 16v with 2.2 VTi?

I have a 1997 european prelude 2.0i with manual transmission, i was wondering if it's possible to replace the 2.0 engine with the 2.2 engine.

All help appreciated

Thank you

J.

97 ludes had 2.0's? I thought they were all h22,
If its a f22 it can be done

it's a 98kw/133hp 2.0i engine. do you think the gearbox would work with it?

If it was a f20 they should be replaceable because f and h series motor and trans are interchangable

The sh's trannies you have to have an adapter plate for.

Like Mtdn said I wouldn't want that gear box.

I would do the full swap, trans included. If your current trans matches up it will work, just not to h22 optimal conditions

Re: Is it possible to replace 2.0i 16v with 2.2 VTi?

Firstly, welcome hunterkiller. Where in Europe are you from?

Sounds to me like you have the BB9 with the F20A4. One of these

Best bet would be to find a front cut, that way you'll have all the required bits and pieces, front crossmember, engine mounts, required looms, etc. It's possible, but will be a lot of hard work.
