I need help diagnosing oil light!

I posted a while back that while driving my lude which I had owned about three weeks decided to die on me. The check oil light came on and I could only get it home in limp mode. The oil level checked out ok, and after cooling down, the car would run fine and even go into vtec. But this would only last about 30 to 40 minutes, and the same thing would happen again.

The shop I took the car to thought the problem was due to the crank being badly scored, and that the bearings had been replaced by the original owner just to get rid of the car. But what I don't understand is if thats the case why does the car run fine for 30-40 minutes before this check oil light goes off. Could this be some simple fix I am overlooking? I'm buying a jdm engine this week, but before I do I would really like to make sure it wasn't something simple.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Re: I need help diagnosing oil light!

I have no idea really about a simple fix. It does seem funny it runs fine for a few minutes then it starts to act up. It may be that someone did a couple things to it so he could sell it. Hopefully not and I hope you find something out.

If you have replace the motor already with your JDM motor what are your plans for the bad motor? If you have a H22A4 non SH. Let me know if you want to sell it.

Re: I need help diagnosing oil light!

I drove the car for about 20min on the highway this morning and it drove just fine until I came to a stop and a cel came up. It was P0401 egr flow insufficiant
flow detected, but the check oil light never came on. I'm going to pull the egr out and clean it today. The engine seemed to run real strong, and they're isn't any knocking, so I'm just not convinced that it needs rebuilt. Is there a chance the egr could be stuck open and this could be the problem?
