Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

So I e-mailed Megan a week ago asking "Does model number MR-SSH-HP97NS have a 2" ID and 2.25" OD, or does it have 2.25" ID and 2.5" OD?". I've not received a response so I figured someone here might know who has bought the Megan header for the base model 5th gen. Does the downpipe to the cat have a 2" or 2.25" inside diameter?

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

Im not sure on this either.

I canceled my order on a full system when I heard they dont really add to performance.

Can anyone help us with figures so we know if this is a good product?

I'm pretty sure that those headers have a 2" collector. I'm getting the same thing for my Lude here shortly (payday friday baby!)

Hi there,

Would you mind sharing a before and after dyno with us? I don't want to import this item if it doesn't work well on the H22

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

I dunno if I can, and if I do, it'll be a while cause I gotta order the cat/cat-back and I'm just gonna do a full install all at once. I'm going to do a collector mod on the headers I get (cut off the 2" part and weld a 2.5" tube in the same place) so they fit to my high flow cat of same size. Then attach the cat-back.

I would buy the part if I were you, stock stuff is good, but you can get some aftermarket parts that are much higher quality and at least have the potential to gain some HP. Worst case, you don't gain anything and you basically have a new OE replacement part

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

ok I'm looking into getting this header and I want to get a carsound high flow cat. Should I get it as 2.25 inch cat as the header OR get a 2.5 inch and do the collector mod?

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

I would do the 2.5" it'll allow for some better scavenging and airflow. The collector mod is easy to do, and any halfway competent welder can do it. It's not like the part is holding a lot of stress, it's just directing airflow.

Keep in mind that your cat/cat-back have to be 2.5" inlet/outlet respectively. Not a problem usually.

I think this thread is getting off topic. When you get your Megan header can you measure the inside diameter coming out of the downpipe?

P.S. I think I'm just being optimistic that it is 2.25" rather than the stock 2". I am going to replace my header. I'm going to install a new high-flow cat and exhaust that is all 2.25" inside diameter. If the Megan header is 2.25" then I'm buying it, if not the search continues...

Edit: ƒuck it! I found a deal for $150 shipped, I guess I'll find out the specifications when they arrive next week. Wish I could afford a before and after dyno.

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

I'm going through the same issues. I have the header.

So if I want to do the collecter mod. I need as followed if I wanted to show up to the shop with EVERYTHING in hand.

1: 02 Bung
2: 2.5" Flexpipe [Not sure if the Megan is a 2.5"]
3: Magnaflow cat http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...ayphotohosting
4: Flanges [or is it easier just to use the ones off of my old cat?]

Will I need any piping? If so how long? Looking to order my evo2 right after I get all of this situated so by next week I can do the install.

Thanks you so much in advace guys & girls. :)

Re: Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers Specifications

It's 2".
Do a 2.5" collector mod and get a 2.5" cat. You'll need a little extra piping and a new flex pipe to do the job, PM 98BB6SH if you need to sine he did it recently.

As for performance, the only thing it as over stock on an H22 is that it's mandrel bent, not crush bent but it's the same design. The H23 has a more restricted manifold so the Megan header feels stronger over stock than H22 to Megan.

John, the RX8 is really an entirely different car. Everyone expects it to be better than the 7 but it handles just as well, and has a 50/50 weight distribution. The power output is very good when compared to all the N/A rotaries before it so all things considered, it's not THAT bad.

How much straight pipe do I need? I was figuring about 6"?

What about the flexpipe. Any would do or is there one I should look for? Cause I see a flow master one on ebay for $35 and a handfull of others for around $15-$20
