Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

no you shouldn't have any problems with water. and the little filter thing that is supposed to stop water stops to much air. But if you live in Texas you should be fine. and If you wanted extra protection i think they have a box that can go around them to help protect. not sure though

I've got the V2 and live in SanAn. I've had no problems at all and we've had some pretty serious flash floods.

Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

If you're driving in enough water to get water in your engine through a V2 (like up to your headlight level) then the engine hydrolocking is the least of your worries.

Brash is right. Just don't try to tackle any rivers in the car and you'll be just fine.

Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

For the price difference, Injen is better. They put more r&d in their products, but some people have made slightly better gains in back to back to back dynos with the V2. The best thing is a true CAI if you don't have to worry about puddle and hydrolocking.

Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

what's up. that is funny that you are worried about water getting through the V2. have you done your research on the intake?

what gen is your lude. didn't feel like searching for that info...

AEM mass produces their intakes without much R&D. i would def go with the injen intake and if you are a 5th gen owner i would 100% go with a TYPE-S Air Intake with a K&N drop in filter.

good luck

Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

I have a v2 and I never had problems with it. Other than it being so expensive, it's a really good intake and I felt like I gained power through midrange (3-5 rpms) and it sounds amazing at WOT.

To answer your question - there is a thread around here that has shown the type-s intake with K&N filter gets the most gains, but as for aftermarket names - I would take Injen over AEM, but that's my personal choice. Besides, I have seen people complain that the V2 sometimes doesn't fit right and hits the hood etc...

And criticizing someone for asking a question is helpful? I''d certainly want proof of R&D before I drop that kind of money. I have heard before about the mass production and seen where the intakes didn't fit, but never seen actual hard evidence of it.

Share the link with the class.

Here's a test that "douschenozzle" did.

Re: thinking of going AEM V2 intake

Coldheartedviet, do you have any more questions?

Keep in mind that link I showed you, didn't include a CAI in the test. Generally, those will produce more power on top end. In a nut shell, since the filter is in the fender and not the engine bay, it sucks in, well, colder air which is obviously good for the engine. At least in the case of H22's, I feel like the stock intake is good because it's plastic and not metal, so it keeps intake temps cooler, but if you've ever seen a stock intake system, it's somewhat restrictive.
I've had SRI, stock, and CAI on my car. The SRI sounded good, but it didn't do anything. The CAI, it suffered on low end, but it accelerated much smoother on top end. I'm running the stock intake now. I took the resonator box out of the fender, so it's sucking fresh air out of the bumper, and also sounds like a SRI. I have a K&N drop in filter and the whole rpm range is smooth, but the CAI definitely excelled on top end. It just depends on what you're looking for our of the car. Bottom line is though, you won't make THAT big of a gain with ANY intake system.

Which one?

I had the first generation 4th gen intake with CAI extension. It came out before the 5th gen Prelude.
