Re: blue valve cover

All you have to do is sand the old paint off, then paint with some high temp engine block paint

Re: blue valve cover

Or just use aircraft remover. Spray it on the valve cover let it sit then power wash it off. Sand down the VC so the paint has something to adhere to and wrinkle paint it.

Re: blue valve cover

Yeah ebay is alright but i recommend using autopartsway.ca or modacar.com Those are both really good sites. I have ordered from autopartsway and my part came in 22 hours and i ordered at night. I was shocked because they told me 2 days lol. Also modacar i only know of one person for sure that have used it and he said it was great. They have alot of stuff. But a genuine one with the Vtec or the DHOC or Honda logo on the front your looking at 150-200

Re: blue valve cover

the sanding and painting are the easy parts.

What I wanna know is how to get the VC off the motor?

do u have to drain the engine first?

or do u just disconnect spark plugs and unscrew it off the motor?

if u unscrew it, will anything get messed up (leaks, pressure etc?)

Re: blue valve cover

nah dude. you don't have to drain anything...
just remove your spark plug cover, unplug your plug wires, and remove the bolts holding the valve cover on...you may have to wiggle it a little bit to clear the hoses and wires and ****znit.

/crash course in VC removal.

P.S. Just make sure that when you change valve covers, that you get a new valve cover gasket, and remove all the little gaskets around the spark plug holes on the old valve cover. get me?

not necessarily. you can buy a shiitty short ram off ebay and just buy a good filter and use the tube. or just make one. now if you were me, you would do what i did and by the type-s intake.

anytime man. I say if you have the $$$ why not get the one you know is already right. That one will look nice so be sure to post some pics when you get it installed. be sure to get the new seals too as mentioned above. If it is like the one I have, you may have to grind down a small grounding terminal that comes on it (on the side) for type S and SIR models; but not the US version. I'll post a pick of what i'm talking about when i'm on a different computer.

Re: blue valve cover

I have no idea, Blue valve cover??? Hmmmmm

I do like that red Mugen cover, is that for an H22? Most of those I've been are B series.

For painting the VC its easy just like a saw in a post use the aircraft stripper that stuff works but have alot of paper towels ready that stuff is messy. Also wet sand the VC after you get all the paint off, the more prep work you do the better it will turn out. I wish I took more time on mine but it looks okay I guess.

Just paint it because they are expensive wherever you look, the lowest you are going to find is probably like 180.

just think what else you could get for your car

yea but look how sweet it looks when you just pay up

Hey CavScout, if you look at the lower right corner, you can see what i was talking about. the SIR and Type S VCs have a small grounding hole that you may have to grind off just to the right of the motor's lift point. that 10 mm bolt gets in the way.

Re: blue valve cover

ya i am gonna paint mine as well..but i am thinking about doing a offset color or like detailing it in a way. Not sure how to say it. But the plan is to go with a blue color make it sign, and then for the words and letters i am gonna make them chrome like..

/crash course in VC removal.

P.S. Just make sure that when you change valve covers, that you get a new valve cover gasket, and remove all the little gaskets around the spark plug holes on the old valve cover. get me?
do we just get the gaskets from honda? i remember my friend did this he broke like 3 of his valve cover bolts

Re: blue valve cover

You can get a gasket from the parts store or eBay. Be sure to get the spark plug o-rings too.
