Suspension Help

Hey im needing to buy some new springs ive got the Skunk2 2.25 F and 2.0 R. Im looking for a more mild drop one that has a semi tight spring that wont collapse from the weight of a big stereo. Any ideas?

Re: Suspension Help

you ever thought about coilovers??? that would be great for you since your concern a specific amount of drop for your car...you can adjust them to the exact height height you prefer, and wont have to hope that the next pair of springs you get are low enough but not too high either...

Re: Suspension Help

Yea ive def thought about that, but right now money is a concern. Im putting these on cause im getting the whole car repainted at the moment and dont wanna drag the bumper haha. Right now im looking at the Eibach proline, its a 1.3 drop all around. Or maybe the tannabe's.

holy ****, he's back...

I can't guarantee that all these numbers are right, but this seems like a good resource... most springs with less drop (sport springs) are gonna have lower spring rates a give a little more (a lot of them are progressive)

these look like the stiffest sports springs..
RS-R Down Springs
From a thread: 279 F, 212 R
Lowers the car: ?

Neuspeed Sport
From a thread: 240 F, 225R
Lowers the car: ? (I can add here 1.7" F, 1.5" R.. I have them and love them.)

Tein S Tech Springs (I' adding... don't know h tech rates, less drop though)
Advertised on website: 240 (4.3) F, 207 (3.7) R
Lowers the car: 1.5" F, 1.3" R

proline? I thought it was SPORTLINE, or PROKIT?

SPORTLINES are not progressive and are stiffer (sounds like maybe what you are going for... never ridden on them, could be a bit harsh)

eibach prokit is progressive and is one of the least stiff sport springs you can get... H&R sports will blow them out of the water... SI SPEED just installed some H&Rs, so you may hit him up... 1.3" drop

I think H&R is similar to the Neuspeed sports I have, but with a little less drop, and the H&Rs cost more.

Re: Suspension Help

you can get neuspeed sports for like $180 or less at option auto or something... there are some links around here... if you get serious about them, ask and I will take the time to find it.

my opinion... go with the EIBACH PROKIT. the springs are great. i've had these on several other cars and am staring at them in a box waiting to be installed this week. my lude is a DD not sure if yours is. it's a 1.3" drop all aroudn which is perfect for our cars.

i had both NEUSPEED and H&R's in the past. the neuspeed's were way too stiff and the h&r's settled way too much. the pro kit may settle about .25" at most. but i never had that problem on either of the 3 cars i had them installed in.

Cool. I wish I had a chance to experience more parts and get a direct comparison... and the Neuspeeds aren't too stiff, they are awesomely stiff. I don't think I would want race springs, but I love the NS sports!!

I have the pro kit also...And the only thing that bothers me even slightly is the face that the rear end dropped a little more than I wanted it to. It made the line down the side of the car perfectly even, which I like. I just wish the front end was a little lower.

As for all you skunk2 fans...I currently have those on now, and they are waaaaay too low with the mugen kit and 17" motegis they ride great and might be great with smaller rims.

I dont have the mugen kit...but you must be talkin about the springs, and not the coilovers...cuz if its too low, then you could just raise it up if you had the coilovers...thats why im not a "spring" fan...you dont have the adjustment versatility as coilovers have...i got the skunk2 coilovers...

Re: Suspension Help

I had 1.5 drop and the springs weren't stiff enough, they were made by maxspeed. = ****
THen i got tanabes pro s-oc. they're nice, but i'd recomend getting something a little stiffer. I've got two tens two amps, and one battery in my trunk. and i need to get a stiffer spring rate. spring rate on the front are 8 and back is 4, so im upgrading to 8 aswell.
Remember i have 19 inch rims aswell,

you can get neuspeed sports for like $180... if your car is just a daily driver this drop is fine... when you adjust your coilovers doesn't it FUBAR your alignment?

My car's a daily driver and I got 2 12' subs in the back. The shocks are starting to go, I want lower it and I don't want want it bouncing all over the place. I want to have the option of adjusting the ride height.

Re: Suspension Help

Well if you want adjustment your going to have to go with adjustable coilovers. Look into Skunk 2, Tien, and Tannabe. Ive heard good things about those. You also could just take your backseat out and do a custom stereo set up there, after all the ludes backseats are pointless.

^^^ For the most part I ride with my back seat down, but I want to have it there in case I need it. I've looked in to tien a bit but their coilovers are expensive. I'll def look into skunk2 and tannabe though.
