Oil Light??? Help!

Hello everyone this is my first post. I have been trying to find the answer to this without asking but haven't had any luck.

I've owned my Prelude for about one month and in that time haven't had any problems until yesterday. While driving the car for about 20min the car started bucking and my rpms where bouncing around and finally the car died.

After waiting about 15min I was able to get the car started and get it home.
I scanned the engine codes and came up with a (p0335, Crankshaft Pos sensor) (p1361, Misfire) (p0401 EGR flow insuficient). After lots of research on the net and advice from friends I decided to change the igniter module, seeing as I had an extra from my nonrunning accord. I had changed the plugs, and wires a week earlier as well as the oil and filter.

After clearing the codes I started the car and let it idle for at least a half hour. I reved it several times and still no codes. So I decided to take it for a spin and the oil light came on and the car died. Still no codes, but the oil light stayed on and wouldn't start. I pulled the battery cable, let the car cool down and it started right up again. I must also mention that there was plenty of oil when I checked it, and plenty in the valvetrain when I opened the oil cap. I'm completely lost as to what it could be and any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Oil Light??? Help!

So your igniter module from the accord cleared your codes, but your still stalling out with a oil light on? Is the prelude heavily JDM ized? Just wondering I have heard so many things about going JDM and having alot of problems due to not changing all the neccessary components out.

Not sure I can help, hope someone chimes in quick and helps you more than I can.

I don't think it is. Its fairly stock except for I/H/E. The igniter I used was the same model # as the one I replaced. I just went out and started the car. Now that its cool again its idling just fine, and there isn't an oil light.

Re: Oil Light??? Help!

make sure you dont have too much oil. hondas dont do to well overfilled. also, if you throw code p1361 or p0401 again let us know. it will be a different prob altogether.

Re: Oil Light??? Help!

Thanks guys, I decided to take the car to a local shop owned by a family friend. I didn't have any problems on the way there, the car drove fine, and without the oil light coming on. I'm sure if I would've driven more than a few miles it would've come on though. I don't think its anything major, I recently did a compression check and my numbers were all 200-210. So hopefully its just a bad oil pump or the collector is dirty.

lol, cars always mess up until you get them to the shop, then they act completely fine.

Re: Oil Light??? Help!

I talked to the the guys at the shop today. They checked the oil pressure and said it was constantly fluctuating. I gave them the go ahead to drop the oil pan and take a better look, I won't know anything untill tomorrow.
Just currious though, if the bearings were spun would I even have any oil pressure to begin with.

Re: Oil Light??? Help!

Well this week has definitely sucked! My mechanic told me that the crank shaft was badly scored, and that the crank bearings had been recently replaced. He said the only reason for doing this would be so that it would hold oil presure long enough to sell it. I bought this car off of a guy who is a mechanic at a shop in Ohio, less than one month ago. He owned the car for about one year and put about 10k on it, so that makes me think he's the one resposible for the bearings.

I don't think there is anything legally I can do about it, and what I entertain doing in my head isn't very legal. So it looks I will be performing an engine swap soon. Oh well, I guess thats life.
