Noob question about OBD2 to OBD1 swap

I like to learn about these things and I know there is alot about this on the forums and I will look them up. However I came across this on eGay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259

stay away from this kind of stuff and do the homework myself or trust somebody that did it for me?

Plus I have heard the gains aren't that great.

Re: Noob question about OBD2 to OBD1 swap

always do your homework regardless if you DIY or not. so if you have someone else do it and they tell you something different, you'll actually be educated on the subject rather than getting ripped off.

but you can find OBD1 ECU'S for MUCH cheaper than that. other honda boards specifically.
but you know thats not all you need right?
also need conversion harness, dizzy, and i think injectors.

From an Aussie Hondata dealer

Quote:
HONDATA has announced that they will be supplying HONDATA s300 complete ecu's for OBDII cars (5th gens)!!

So saving you $$$ on converting to OBDI with harnesses and stuff, this will be a DIRECT PLUG IN!
The price is pretty high, but it's there as an option. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Re: Noob question about OBD2 to OBD1 swap

not sure what else goes into the conversion from obdII to I since I was obdI to start with...

a good deal on a chipped p28 is about $175... then you really need to get it on the dyno and tune it for your car to be safe and get good gains... $400?

you can get a p05/06 on ebay for 20-50 bucks sometimes and get it converted to p28 and chipped for about $125... I would not want my vtec xover that low, mines at 4800k
