This is kind of a problem, hah.

So I'm driving home from Colorado and my transmission dies.

I'm in a fifth gen automatic, with about 140k miles on it..
It looks like one of the seals might have just died.
Keep in mind, I was driving about 85 for like.. two or three hours, so that might have something to do with it.

Started smoking under the hood, and I leaked tranny fluid for about ten feet after I stopped.

It's not dripping anymore, but I'm a little worried to start it.
Uh, aim me plz.

Have a read of the trans failure guide mate. --> 5th Gen Auto Transmission Failure Guide

Sorry I can't be of any more help than that.

Re: This is kind of a problem, hah.

I've been through it.
All I can think of is it's getting too hot, but I had an external transmission cooler on it until about a month ago, and had to rip the thing off because it would've voided my warranty with the auto shop I'm working with..

They've done a full rebuild, replaced solenoids for some reason, and taken apart and repaired my transmission three times, so I'm going to look at legal options, and possibly just push for a five speed swap at their expense :D
