Dual exhaust questions

Hey guys well was looking at my rear bumper sypder..and it is set up for 2 exhausts..i would hate to get it and only have one. Been doing research and heard different stories..but questions are these

1. Does a Dual Cat make you lose power compaired to single cat?
2. Any companies make Dual Cat?
3 Is there a way to make dual cat one's self?
4. Can anyone think of a good looking Rear bumper that will match up nicely with Sypder kit. if not going with Dual/if applicatable..

Thank you all

Re: Dual exhaust questions

Dual cat wont' be an advantage. Best thing to do would be to have a 2.5" out of the cat, then split to two 2" just before the axle. Depending on which rear muffler you choose it will likely be incredibly loud...not that this is a problem...

Re: Dual exhaust questions

i definately wouldnt even consider the dual exhaust bit on a prelude, you would just be degrading it to the "ricer civic" standard if you will. please dont ruin your car!!!!

Re: Dual exhaust questions

You will lose alot of your low end power duetoless back pressure in the motor, Why dont you look in to a lip kit, they look nice and wont crack.

That's only if it's 2 big fart cans sticking out the back or on a car with only 1 cut out for the exhaust having 2 cut out and 1 exhaust looks way more rice to me. IDK how it would sound on a lude but i think the 93 v6 camaro have 1 inlet and u exit so all u would have to do is get one should fit wear it could be hidden and the have the tips sticking out the back.

I don't agree with this. Look at the Accords made around the 5th gen's time. They had dual and it looked pretty good.

And when did we get this?!?!?

Re: Dual exhaust questions

I don't think havign dual exhaust makes a car look ricey..i think everyone has gone over board with the word Ricey..i guess what i should do now is if i don't like something call it ricey on everyone elses car..lol..but seriously..i could understand if it is a car that is ment for like family driving or whatever adn then it is pimped out kit and all that as being somewhat ricey..but beyond that not many cars are ricey..just works in progress.

Re: Dual exhaust questions

I ran into a 5gen lude in TX with dual cats and I smoked him (kinda) with my auto 5th. His sounded really nice though, but I'd rather keep my lude with one exhaust, she looks sexier that way TO ME.

because those accords came factory with duals and plus it was a v6.

there is only one body kit back bumper that i think looks good and it has a single outlet for exhaust. i think it is called the buddy club kit but i'm not sure.

Re: Dual exhaust questions

On the original bumper you mentioned, couldn't you get a body shop to somehow fill in & cover up the 'other' exhaust cut-out('if' you're not going dual i mean)?

Re: Dual exhaust questions

well what are you trying to do, you do realize thats two cylinders per muffler basically and the exhaust flow is pretty much guarentted to pick which side it wants to go to right? your back pressure is gonna fly out the door, if your gonna go for looks, theres your answer broski, but if you want power, get a skunk2, apexi or whoeverelse makes a single muffle for the lude.

Re: Dual exhaust questions

Had a CRX once I did dual pipes on, it was split with a Y just after the rear axle. That looked alright but performance wasn't that great. Didn't keep it much longer.

Re: Dual exhaust questions

I don't think it looks ricey, i think the sound will be the judge of that. If you do it right, I'm sure it will look good. depending on where you split the pipe, you won't lose that much back pressure.

Re: Dual exhaust questions

I was wondering about ideal exhaust sizing myself, seems like the choices are 2", 2.25", and 2.5" inside diameters. Do you only need to run 2.5" exhaust if you're running turbo/supercharger/or a NA build with considerable HP gain?
