Body Kits

Okay so I know there are alot of people on this website that dislike body kits very much becuase it too ricey looking and prefer the lip kit way more. Well I am one of the few that really like a body kit. I need one with nice side skirts, not plain ones but something a little extra and the rear bumber cant be made for double exhaust. I was wondering if anyone knows a good site and reliable site with good prices as well for me to order one. Thanks

Re: Body Kits

lol actually dual exhaust aint to bad..but body kits..you can go with www.bodykits.org l bought mine from them..and it has been through a tough time..between installing and what not and it has only flaked parts off..no cracks nothing..and really really durable..cheap prices to..you pay for it and then they ship it and u pay fedx which gives you time to make some more money in between. Also they have a very wide varity that can be picked from and they are direct fits..just drill the screw holes and put the screws in and go..note that you might have to make your own brackets for lights or buy aftermarket ones like i did..but really they are a outstanding company and i will be buying the rest of my stuff from them most likely..scale of 1-10 i would give them a 9. they could put more bubble wrap on it...lol..but i am just the kind of guy that likes things to be protected..and i stand behind..because i was in your shoes..everyone saying kits are bad, lame, what not, but when it boils down..it is all personality.

I don't dislike bodykits because they look ricey, I dislike them because most of them look like something Picasso sketched up while on a huge cocain bender. Find one that compliments the shape of the Prelude, not one that tries to change it.

Re: Body Kits

Hey if that is what he likes that is what he likes. I once thought I would like a body kit on mine as well. After seeing them and seeing the difference of the Body Kits compared to the Lip kits. I changed my mind, I might have even changed my mind about going forced induction, we'll see once I get my clutch and flywheel kit in.

Hey each his own if the guy/gal likes the body kit then thats what they want. I don't think it is our place to tell them what they want, now sharing your opinion is fine. So help them out give them what they ask for like a link to a repitable site. If they ask what to you think? Or How do you think it looks now here is where you can voice your opinion.

Just for the record, most body kits I have learned about are cheap and made of fiberglass. They don't give at all. You'll have many issues of paint chips, cracking the under spoliers due to not enough ground clearance. I think most people understand that and want you to know of the problems you will face and help you understand it might not suit you having to fix and repair a cheap body kit all the time.

Re: Body Kits

well along the lines with paint chipping i have not had to much of a problem..I live in the country and my front in sits about 3 in. off ground..the only major things i have problem getting over is when i go down and then back up...it is impossible..but since i will be living in a flat area here shortly. I will be ok. make sure you have a location that does allow for the kit..or at least paths that allow you to get where you must go.

Re: Body Kits

And you can just google "Body Kits" but I've found that andysautosport.com has a wide selection from oil caps to body kits to turbo kits. They are a trustworthy site (as I had a friend that bough NO2 accessories from there and some other crap) and they have been up and running for a few years.

Re: Body Kits

Kits are ok!! Just dont slap them on and paint them. Alot of waves show you have to take hours to put them and support them and bondo them up to look good. Also they crack easily. So its not driver friendly. I like the contor complection (yeah a big word) of the prelude. Its a sleek design

Re: Body Kits

Well right nwo yoru car is basically fiberglass bumpers..so if you are careful enough with them then you would be able to be careful enough with your new fiberglass kit..Uranthe is a another option as well..they are durable if you don't think you would be able to handle a fragile part. your call though.

Re: Body Kits

sighs... there once was a time for body kits.. but i feel the lude has such good lines already why try to change it. Lip kits are really the best way to go IMO IMO IMO IMO IMO. I would think long and hard about what you wanna do to the lude. WHere are you going with it whats the end result you want?.. bare in mind that almost every front bumper you get is going to hang alot lower then the ludes bumper even with the lip kit. So with that in mind do you plan on lowering the car..
Im not saying body kits look bad im saying body kits look horrible after a few road and crub bashes. Then your driving around with some fiber glass nub hanging off your bumper (or polyethylene). Besides that body kits have the tendancy to never fit as well as the oem bumpers. Mind you OEM bumpers sag after time but thats fixable. Im a bit anal when it comes to the little things and a body kit would be my worst nightmare.
I would consider the pros and cons of having a body kit vs not and then decide what style you want.
besides all that of what i mentioned, do you really wanna be that guy? I mean to each his own and if a kit is what you want by all means but its alot of work for really what? afte you install it and fuss with it getting to fit right then comes the paint. Feathering to get it to match and bla bla bla.
to me nothing look s better then the suttlety of the lude as it is. With the correct stance the oem bumper looks really good. Lip kits even better.
I guess what im trying to say here is after the "hey look at my neet body kit" feeling wears off and you gash it once or twice then hows your lude going to look?
I say dont fix whats almost perfect. and by god the ludes lines are almost perfect =)

Re: Body Kits

basically it all bares down to what you want to have...i am still happy with my bumper..i drive like a mad MF, and i still have yet to have any problems..i do need to get a strut bar for extra safety when i corner really hard. Truth about it is..I might just have both sides of this..I will probably eventually get a oem bumper and lip kit and switch it back and forth from time to time..

Re: Body Kits

Lip kits are nice for the lude, because I think that they are the only things that can make the lude look more sexy then it already does (which is VERY hard, haha)

The only kit that I have ever liked and seen so far, and will end up getting, is the Mugen kit - soooo nice, i LOVE the front bumper of that kit (the spoiler stays off tho, none of that for me)

Re: Body Kits

I don't think you'd be happy with a body kit. Most are fiberglass which is weak, and have poor fitment. Get an OEM, WWRS or Mugen replica kit. Or...you could mix it up. Personally I kinda like the Greddy front lip with OEM sides and rear.

Re: Body Kits

Edge right now a lot of the fiberglass companies are working on making more durable kits..the company i got has some real durable ones..like mine lol..it also fit really good..all i had to do was drill holes..can't complain there. I think the fiberglass will eventually make a come back after a refabercation of the designs to strengthen them.. plus personally like everything else we all write..I think the some body kits make the cars look sexy and some make the car look aggressive some and some i think are stupid.

Re: Body Kits

If you are gonna get a body kit....GO URETHANE! Fiberglass fits piss-poor and chips daily. I've had both on a previous show-car(let the flaming begin) of mine and i WILL NEVER go fiberglass again. Go with a reputable brand such as Wings West or Xenon, they will fit just like oem.

On my current 97 SH im in the process of giving the front end a makeover. I'm gonna just go with a simple front bumper lip to compliment the factory skirts and throw a honeycomb on it and repaint the front to fix the rock chips from the previous owner.

As stated earlier, just a front lip alone with the factory(painted) skirts and rear lip really sets off the Prelude ESPECIALLY if you give it a little drop and some rollers.
