Calling all Transmission specialists(or anybody that has a clue)

Ok so I am having problems with my tranny which is really really shifting hard. I mean I feel like I'm shifting through a pile of rocks and I also have the 5th generation prelude infamous 5th gear grind. I have checked the master cylinder for leaks so thats on check, and my engine mounts are bad so my mechanic though "supposably" the tranny fluid leaks so theres for my hard shifting. I also bought an Exedy Clutch and and Fidanza Flywheel just to make sure it would fix this problem. He said that he would change the clutch/flywheel, put on new engine mounts, flush out the tranny fluid and bleed the clutch lines (and put new fluids there too)and inspect all that stuff. Ok now for the questions.

1)Do you think all of this would fix my problems as to hard shifting/5th gear grind/slow retracting clutch pedal?
2)Ive heard the best fluids out there are either GM syncromesh, Royal Purple, and Honda MTF(pp.com and po.com). Any of you guys have experience with either one of these and what would you suppoese my best bet be?

Someone else on here had a similar problem with their 5thgen, the grinding could possibly be worn synchros, not too sure

Yeah I believe LittleFoot had a similar problem with the hard shifting tranny. But all I want to know is if the work I planned out will work to fix my problem and to see if anyone has experience/feedback on any of the oils I listed..

ya the grinding is the sync. But the grinding will not go away with new clutch. you just have to get the rpms right when you are shifting I have the same problem with it. with normal driving you should be able to shift into 5th without grinding anywhere from 2.5K up to 3.5K but go straight into it.At higher speeds i can get into it smoothly around 7k rpms with a quick shift move.

the Gm syncromesh is probably the best bet..but was looking around a little bit and found that there is a cheaper version not sure what it called, but it is available at all autozones. I will do some more looking into it to find.

What type of flywheel/clutch u get?

Ohhh you talking about the Pennzoil Syncromesh Transmission Fluid that its the same company that makes GM fluid but GM fluid is worth around $10 and the pennzoil is worth around $5 at autozone. Yeah I know what you were talking about just some people dont know that so I use the more familiar term GM Syncromesh fluid.

Oh and I got the Exedy Organic Clutch(basically stock replacement but very cheap around $95) and Fidanza Flywheel combo for $240. Yeah I know that a new clutch wouldnt fix anything but its an old car (150k miles) and I wanted to put on a lightweight flywheel so I just bought the flywheel/clutch combo.

Are you having issues shifting in all gears? How about down shifting? DO you have issues going from say 3rd to 2nd... How about neutral to first when you go to take off? what rpms are you shifting? do you have any odd noises in your tranny like whining or just noisiness in general?

Also it really shouldn't make much difference but i do know that the standard transmission fluid from honda has an additive to lower noises just an FYI... With that said you can use any other NON i repeat NON detergent 5-30 oil...

I used to have a whine on the old h23 tranny.... think it was a bearing.

I use honda MTF only... the guys at my motorsports shop said they have put it in cars with grinds running syncromesh and that it has worked better... told me to stick with it. 5th gear might get us all eventually :( . I had a couple grinds when my pass side tranny seal started leaking after the swap... took car of that before it caused problems and it has run good with honda MTF since then... good luck.
