700+ Yes...i said it 700+

Ok..well its going to be a year soon. The people that know me, know the stuff i been through with my lude this past year. Well..earlier on this year i had a parts list. I wanted to go turbo. Then i ended up changing my mind and decided to just get a jackson sc. Well..now im going back to turbo and i want to do this. Im devoted to this. I want a 700+ Lude. Yes i know..wtf am i going to do with all that power. Well 1) Im not getting it done anytime soon, 2) Its something i believe a lot of people would like to see. and 3) Because its my car lol . But seriously, i know you guys are going to say..all you need the most is 300-400 to have fun with. Well i want 700..only reason..after i dusted out my shelves..found a issue of import tuner mag...700hp rsx k20... I want that to be a lude. and i want that to be me. so basically im making this thread...what parts would i need? Trust me this project is going to take YEARSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS and yes i am keeping this car..i know im 17 and you guys are going to think ima trade it in...nope..love it to much =p

man your talking lots of freakin money..best chance you have of getting it done would be to find a sponsor really..because you gonna have to have a seperate car and you will probably rarely be able to drive the lude.

I wish you well in your pursuit. The Prelude really isn't the ideal car to attempt that with. You see the guys that have built the killer high HP cars (ogsmackdade, TEL, apt, etc) have all done it because they love the car.

I'm not trying to stop you from doing it, but I've seen too many people buy a Prelude with plans of turning it into an absolute ball tearer, then abandon it for something else before the project is half finished.

Like I said, I wish you well though.

Well I got to say good luck, but you have to start somewhere. Myself I know this guy here in town that has Integra Type R w/ a H22 swap and turboed. Now this guy uses this car daily and thats what I want to achieve with mine so I am going to mirror his build so I won't go waisting money on trial and error. My recommendation is contact some forced induction manufactures let them know what you are trying to do and see if you can get any help (sponsor) yeah it will suck cause they will end up owning your car. You'll more than likey have to drive or ship that thing all over the country for trade shows, car shows you name it. Unless you have a disposable income I'm afraid your gonna get discouraged like Brash22 said and end up not finishing or bailing out.

I'm still trying to figure out how your going to keep your axles from riping right off @ 700 HP. Plus too transmission at that HP. Lets just say you have your work cut out for you.

good luck... 700+ is awfully lofty... most people would opt for a lighter car that would perform better at the drag strip... check out this civic and crx... keep in mind the crx has HP only in the 500s....

When I think about the money that I pissed away needlessly on cars, parts, and other crap I didn't need from the age of 17 up to today, I could have had a neat little down payment on a house.

Don't you think the time, money and effort could be better spent on something other than a car?

What is the overall goal you're trying to achieve? Say you pull it off and actually build a 700hp Prelude.. now what? What are you going to do with it?

So you may get in an import magazine, but what weight does that hold? Its not as if you made the cover of TIME.

At the end of the day you're going to have a completely impractical, illegal and thus useless automobile that you're going to be stuck with. You can't drive it, your insurance wouldn't touch it with a barge poll, and no one who has the disposable income to purchase a car simply to have it or look at it is going to be interested in buying a car many people mistake for an Accord anyways. People like that have 1000hp Supras, NSXs, and Skylines.

It's an ambitious project and I can't fault you for having a dream. But is the payoff worth all that work?

My money is on your priorities changing long before you ever complete it.

Well you make a good point x_star, but im going to start at this slow, maybe just do a nice set up for the next 2 years, 300-400hp range. Then after that, after i settle down with money, get done with most of my classes in college, and maybe have my own apartment. I'm defintely going to just overhaul on it. I know what your saying though..all that money can go to a nice house, or maybe a more luxury car. Or just simply messing around at these ages. But i always loved cars, and im really in love with this car. I defintely have my mind straight on this.

Guys...im defintely not going to abandon this, lol i swear on anything you will see me with a 700hp lude one day. And yes i know a lot of people do it to civics, crx's, s2000's mr2's..etc all the light cars. I want to do it to the lude, because i really want to push it to the limit. Obviously im not going to go on the street thinking im the **** or something, this car isn't worth a simple street race that can be the cause of my death... if i wanna go fast and almost have that near death experience..thats what six flags is for... =p lol

The honest truth is your young. You have no family to raise, very few bills, the ability to control your own destiny and no one that you are the primary care giver of *(I assume)*. Do these things while you can before your responsibilities change.

I wish I knew the best way to explain it or even put all my thoughts into words that can truely grasp what life is all about.

A few of the smartest people I know told me what life is all about at one point in time. They said to follow your dreams. And they didnt say it like most would think. Everyones heard that before, but the notion of doing things because you would like to brings about much better memories than doing nothing at all. Theres the big pictures and then theres the scrapbook full of pictures. Make the scrapbook of memories worthwhile and do it while you can. The big pictures are going to come about and change with decisions you make over time and worrying about it as your only goal isnt going to fill that scrapbook. The only phrase Ive ever heard thats worthwhile on the subject is "the journey is more important than the end destination".

I have a 700hp prelude and I enjoy having it. Its not published in any magazines, I have alot of money sunk in it, its not 100% reliable, gas can be expensive, and Ill never see the money I put into it again. But, it makes me happy and that makes it worth every penny.

Its just money...

yea listen to those w/ experience on this one....
ive had my lude for 4 years.... its a 97 between buying it and rebuilding/replacing 3 motors, 1 tranny, and 4 turbos i had at least spent well over 25k on this car. i ve done MOST of the work myself. its hard.... because after 4 years ive only hit 300hp+. so its something you have to be truly dedicated to. good luck. if i can be any help lemme know.

Good luck my friend!

I think you should start out building a h23 block with a f23 crank like 98vtec has. only difference is you'll be using low compression pistons. Maybe 8 or 8.5:1 maybe... start there. I think I'll start off by pointing out some of the big stuff. I'd look into Rev Hard turbo Manifold or even better the "Mini me" (i think that's what it's called but it looks like a butterfly to me lol). garrett gt40rbb turbo or a SPA Turbo. If you've never heard of them there turboes are da bomb! and I don't mean that they go BOOM! lol. I'm going to use the spa 7000H on my 2jz and that's good for up to 700hp. I'm unly looking for about 450 on low boost and 550-600 on high boost. But if you want 700hp then you'll need the spa 7000M which is good for 800+hp. Now if the price of a manifold and turbo that can handle that much power doesn't scare you away then I'll be glad to help you out man! I guided a guy on here to make 305whp on a stock bottom end h22 about a year and half ago. The only reason he didn't make 330-350 was because he got a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo when I told him to get the Garrett GT30rbb turbo. That car is still running today and I believe he is still trying to sell it in NY. I didn't expect Deric build that car only to sell it. But anyways good luck! :)

well not to bash... but i think its going to be a pointless goal. Expecially for a street driven Lude. Maybe if it was a all out race car. maybe. We got our shop race car down to 9s with only 500whp. We still cant catch traction unless we use the wheelie bars force the front end on the ground. Thats with FULL race slicks. With out the bars. We spun down trrack to get a whopping 11 second pass. lol

Its called a HOBBY for a reason. We all spend money on useless stuff whether its car parts clothes are shoes. I prefer to spend my money on car parts because I find great enjoyment and thrilling to go fast and take some nice turns! If you want to have a goal so be it, its more than most people can say! Good luck!!!

I would love to see that! I have always loved the look of 5th gen preludes and if I was worth millions of dollars I would do that to. But it would also be parked beside my porsche.

Kozmo98Prelude is on a distinguished road
only read the first reply so if i steal someones idea sorry no time to read it all.... any way.. .the sponsor thing is a great idea...even if its a lil stupid shop money is money. there is no question what parts to get... get the best of the best... i also believe that rsx is AWD if ur pushin 700 to 2 front wheels wit out it being a drag car u aint goin no where... and that k20 is only the block everything else is custom and changed. so jus take ur h22 block or buy a h22 block off someone for about 300 bucks and start from there so u can still keep ur lude running and a drivable car. swap it when ur done. and i again apologize if the things i said were said by someone above i didnt have time to read all of them well had the time no patience after reading 70 pages of a school book

For what it's worth I am 47 yrs old... cars and racing are my "passion". Over my life time i have spent countless hours and thousands and thousands of $$ on all my cars over the many years. YES it is my addiction. This is IMOHO (sp) I do look back and think ...What was i thinking??... Do i regret it? NO....Am i sorry i did it? NO... Would i do it all over again? And the answer FOR ME is YES i would!! I am not telling you to go out and go broke building your dream But if it is truly your goal, passion and you are willing to devote yourself... time and money to it...and being able to make sacrafices in the RT places... I say GO FOR IT!!! Just don't be stupid and do it rt the first time!! REMEMBER it is not just the engine that will be needing upgrading the WHOLE car will need it. Maybe a Prelude is not the rt car to have 700Hp (They told me the same thing back in the 70's when i put a BBC in a Vega) Or maybe it is. It is totaly your choice... 700Hp is a **** load of HP for the street or track.. ... THIS IS JUST MY OWN OPINION I wish you luck with your dream and I hope you achive it !! And most of all I hope i am around to see it run!!! AND OLD RACER ONCE SAID TO ME...WE DON'T REGRET THE THINGS WE DO IN LIFE ...JUST THE THINGS WE DON'T

my advice:

if you don't know the parts to do it yourself, you are much better off letting someone else do it who already has the experience with that kind of power. Someone like Tony Palo out of Texas or Don Flores out of Jacksonville.

OR

you can start off with a more realistic goal, say 300whp and work your way up so you learn the basics instead of jumping into battle with just your nickers and a lollipop.
