Nsx-r

Hey guys i just thought of this for some reason adn curious to what everyone things. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a 3.0L V6 nsx-r engine in a prelude with the 6 speed tranny? Think that is even possible.

Anything is possible, but that my friend is highly unlikely. Might be easier to put a prelude shell on an nsx ;)

My friend, I have dreamed about this for a long time, but when you consider the costs of making it work... you could just be driving an NSX...

I actually think it would cost MORE and be more work in the long run, your better off buying an NSX for $40,000, lol.

If only... haha. But if I had the money to blow on an NSX though, I would like to try putting all the parts in a prelude.... a person can dream, right?

The Prelude is an incredibly well balanced car - probably one of the best FWD cars ever made, and definatly the best that was released in the 90s. Putting a huge power V6 in the front of it will destroy the balance.

Putting it in the rear so the car became an MR layout might be good, but for the amount of work involved, it would be so much easier to buy a second hand Porsche 911, as it'd cost about the same.

Oh, and one more thing: The NSX had a 5 speed trans for most of it's lifespan. When they facelifted it (when Japan banned popup headlights, 1996-97-98 depending on market) they added the C32 3.2L V6, and THAT had a 6 speeder. The C30 3.0L never had a 6 mated to it.

I wouldn't take that NSX engine out of it. I seriously think that you can do anything with a car. You can fit a V10 BMW M5 into a Prelude if you chose but that would mean that the entire chasis needs redoing. Won't be a prelude anymore....

Granted, the Type R is a fantasic platform as well. Which is why I said "one of the best" not "the best"

I haven't driven every FWD sports car, so I'm not in any position to call any car the best at anything, but the Prelude would definitely be one of the best.

I agree completely... the prelude is wonderfully balanced... with the polyurethane bushings on there I couldn't ask for more.
