Removing everything from the back of the car wont' do squat, just make the car incredibly loud. Would be lucky to weigh 50lbs. I always wonder why people go to such extent to remove the rear interior when the front is where the bulk of the weight is.
Yes the rear seat folds down as one piece. Pics or ban when it's being used as a couch. Swivel on the seat will be illegal, and having it facing rearward would get pretty annoying pretty quick, since it will always be in your field of vision. Not to mention of there's somebody sitting in it, how will they put on their seat belt, if it's two feet in front of them? Speed boats have swivels or rearward facing passenger seats, but that's because most speedboats only have one function - towing a skier or wakeboarder, and keeping an eye on them is a pretty good idea.

The spare tire alone weighs more than everything else you'll be taking out. You'll get tired of the gutted look. Oh and the back seat is 2 pieces, there's 2 clips on the front corners of the back seat, that takes the bottom part out. You have to unbolt the back park, so you'll need to do some fabbing to make a bench.

Jut buy "Go Fast" parts and you wont need to take your back seats out!
|

I have taken out my back seats, spare, tire jack, all the surrounding insulation, and seat belts....and if i remember correctly the total was 55lbs....i drive my car everyday, and the noise level isnt any worse than having everyting in the car...hell i wish it was 200lbs, damn that would make the lude a 2700lb car...LOL....

you should gut the whole car if your going to do it...

I notice a difference when I take out everything including the seats, spare, sub. It's kind of like the opposite of the difference I feel when I have a passenger or two. If you're going to do weight reduction you might as well start doing everything though, right?

i've dropped about 200-250 lbs from my car and it was no easy task.
no ac, ps, cruise, rear gutted...etc |

I gotta keep my ac and cruise though. I need the ac on certain August days. The cc is good just cause if I have to have my foot on the throttle, i get lazy and wanna rest my foot on it, lol. Check the resource guide though guys, there's a huge list of weight reduction tips, and I have it all set in stages based on ease of doing it and how much ride comfort is sacrificed, plus lightweight parts that you can buy to replace stock parts.

sfields recently made a thread with it done, not sure where but search for threads started by him. It was in a 4th gen, but it looks pretty much the same.
