Help me audio question

Hi. I have a quick question. Does the 5th generation come with rear speakers attached to stock amp? There is the black box right near the speakers and i dont know if its the amp.

The thing is i am trying to set up a 4-channel and the front speakers work its the back ones that are acting funny? I am also running a kicker amp and monster amp. i dont think the rca are bad because when i switchjed them they worked fine.

Thank you.

Yes, they are amplified, but double check to see if the fuse for the rears blew, it's in the interior fuse box.

Really? Rear speakers amped from factory? Wow, I never knew that. But that's no reason as to why they sound crap.

The black box near the rear speakers is the defogger coil for your rear window.

^^^ Yeah, thats why they are on their own fuse. I wanna say it's like a 200 watt factory amp.

No, the black box by the right-rear 6"x9" is the amp. You can check because the speakers are both ran from it, just trace the line.

200W sounds a bit much for two cardboard 6x9s

anyways, if your putting an external amp on your speakers, I highly recommend bypassing the rear factory amp altogether. In theory, they should play eitherway but it all depends on how the factory amp allocates the extra power given by the new amp. I would say since it is not designed to amp an already amplified system, bypass the factory one and take advantage of the quality offered by the new amp. Also, make sure you test out the rear speakers to make sure they are not blown, that is always a possible reason as to why you may not hear anything. If anything else, post pics and we'll help make sure all your connections are right and all that jazz. Isoloating the problem is the key, may not be the factory amp at all!

You mean this box?

No, it's the defogger coil.

Can somebody find this stock amp? When I had the entire rear out for my stereo install I never saw it.

**edit**

After a quick search around PA I found something.

The antenna amp is behind the driver's side rear seat panel (beside the rear seat). Open up the panel and it is mounted just above the floor. It's a small sillver box.
Is this the amp that everyone keeps talking about?

Well just do this, cut the speaker wires right when they come of therear speaker and see if they pop with a 9 volt battery. If they dont, then theyre blown... I doubt you could blow those tho, theyre pretty much retarted proof.

Hey guys. I ended up just running speaker wirres directly to the rear speakers and now everything is gravy. i hid everything but my one kicker amp which i centered on the back seat. i hid my 4-channel behind the side carpet to the right directly opposite the jack holder. i mounted a wooden board with hinges to the side wall right infront of the lights and then amp mounted to that. it looks really clean and i put my capacitor right ina conveniet jack holder :-)

I ran the power wire opposite to all the other wires by running it from the battery across the engine and up throught the driver side and i ran all the other wires along passenger side.

overall i have put in a kenwood headunit, kickersx650.1 amp for sub, jensen 4-channel, stock speakers, monster 1 farad cap, and for the time being i will have 2 kicker -10" solo barics.

if anybody wants pictures lemme know.

p.s. the other black box llol it was the amp the picture posted here is the cil i know but i didn't know about the factory amp.

1 other question on the rear speakers there are these 2 wires that connect to the left of the right speaker and vice versa when i traced them after there connection there is no wire on the side. why are those 2 wires there. i think they are red and white? not sure but i will take picture and post. they aren't attached to anything but the metal frame of the speaker and i am just confused. it doesn't affect the sound i just left tehm plugged in

That's all well and good, but where is the actual amplifier? But good work on that diagram.
