suspensions

Looking at getting a new suspension for my lude. What does everyone recommend. Only need it for daily driving, not autocross. The previous owner lowered it on the stock springs. Looking at a brand called D2?

A friend of mine has the D2 coilovers in his car. He's pretty happy with them, though I've heard stories of them failing (NOTE: not on Honda applications) for no apparant reason shortly after the warranty runs out.

This is exactly what I'm rolling with right now and I love it, I don't have any problems and when I feel like being a "speed racer" and take turns at speeds faster then normal it handles like a dream. There is nothing better then having the chick in the passenger seat say "Wow...that was so fun!! DO IT AGAIN!!!"

Would this set up work on a Fifth Gen SH? Forgive me if this is a silly question, it's just that this is my first non-mopar vehicle. I had an Eibach Pro-kit on my old Neon R/T and loved it.

Of course it will. The only difference between yours and mine is the ATTS unit, you should be golden

hmmm... can't say I have ever seen that, must be on eGay, but if it does say that, then you can always go the safe route and find one that says "SH models only"

SH's have different springs and struts than bases, so if it exempts SH's and you have an SH, guess what.... won't work.

I know it has something to do with ATTS but I thought that it wouldn't affect the strut and springs, just all that good stuff sticking out of the tranny (halfshaft, CV shafts, that stuff). Idk man, but i guess its worth looking into!!

I have yet to get under the vehicle and change the oil(cuz ive only had the car a month) but supposedly the oil filter is harder to get out due to the ATTS unit. I definitely would like to lower my vehicle in the future so any of you SHer's out there who've lowered your rides id love to hear from ya. Im not worried about an adjustable coil-over set up. Id just assume a quality set of springs and struts, not too drastic. 1.3-1.5" drop would be good for me.

Slightly different, so different in fact that there are quite a few SHers running them, despite the fact that they say 'excluding SH'

Jesse (pooponurhead) runs this setup I believe on his SH.

THe only difference (AFAIK) is that on the base you can just run the springs, but on the SH you do need to change teh shocks as well.

I planned on swapping out the shocks anyways cuz thats they only way of doing it right, but there have been people on here that have done this type of setup with no problems?

I like my kyb agx / neuspeed sport setup... but I didn't until I got my energy suspension bushings... they are wonderful.

I have spc balloints too...

this is a great setup, but consider koni yellows too.

eibach prokit (1.5" drop?) or sportline (2" drop)?

Sportlines can beat you up... prokit has progressive spring rates...

I love my neuspeed sports.

Heard from honda owners that Koni shocks with Neuspeed springs have good results. Don't know the models but thats what they all say. I haven't heard a single guy complain about the combination.

D2's are ok but they are bumpy as even on the softest of setups. Don't know if that would qualify as autocross or not.

Jamex springs on standard shocks went very low and confortable without any scraping at all on my old EF Civic. But that thing had lightweight 14" wheels and it was sacked. Little G ride.

I had the pro kit on my old car and it was a 1.5 drop and was perfect. The neon r/t i had before it had a 1.75 and it was horrendous. It rode like a covered wagon.

Haha, sounds nice.

If you want a good spring but not coilovers my top 3 would be

1) Neuspeed sports (1.7" drop)
2) H&R sports (basically NS sports with 1.3" drop for more $$)
3) Eibach prokit (again, 1.5" drop)

you could get skunk 2s I guess... if you want it a little more slammed.

The only shock I know of that excludes the SH is the Koni Yellow. You can run the base model yellows on an SH, but be sure that you get base model springs also. Base Yellows + SH Springs (insert brand name here ______) = disaster/pooponurcar.

Personally, I recommend the KYB AGXs with Eibach Pros. My drop would be great, if it wasnt for my pesky lowhanging APEXi WS2...dang thing is draggin the ground constantly. I guess I'm lucky I didn't opt for a larger drop. Yikes!

remember dropping agxes more than 1.5" voids the warranty, but kyb are about the best value for money you can get in a shock. Lots of people like the the gr2s, I got the agxes in a trade for my h23. KYB claims their products are supposed to be used at stock height (to cover their a$$ i suppose), but my local motorsports shop, Blueridge, drop them all the time and seem to love them and think of them as having great longevity.

Yea dude. I haven't had any trouble with mine whatsoever in the few months I've had them installed. The real test will come when I see how long my cv joints last. Yuck.

I think I am going to stick with the D2s. I am not a fan of neuspeed(hate german products), and I used to like eibach, but then I started hearing bad things about them. I also need shock tower braces, but I am very picky on those. Want either tanabe, mugen, spoon, or if password jdm makes them eventually for the bb6. Neuspeed's bar is too chinsy, plus I don't like the look.
