ok there is alot of thrreads about these topics seperately but im bringing in alot more money with jus graduatin and stuff and dont kno whether to swap my car with a whole jdm engine and trans with lower miles then my current one (123,000) or if i should do some internal work and rebuild my engine to lower miles on it and make faster... now theres one more thing...my lude is currently automatic and when i swawp it i would be swapping it with of course a manual transmission...but i just want ur guys n gals opinions on what u would do because im stuck on wat i wanna do

123,000 miles isn't much. I say, save your money for the future.

...now, if you're really passionate about your Prelude and want to do everything you've mentioned, by all means, go for it! I would just do the tranny swap first if your current motor is still in healthy, running condition.

well...you can find h22a / m2b4 tranny combos like mine for relatively cheap...well cheaper than buying an LSD and paying to have it installed...

see how much the 5spd / LSD swap will set you back...you're going to spend that money on fixing your auto when it gives out anyways...while the tranny is being swapped you might as well go for a flywheel / clutch upgrade, then you can run it on your current engine until it's time for an upgrade / rebuild...the h22a is only .5 higher compression anyways, not really noticeable...the manual / lsd is a must if you want big power eventually, it's best to start with a solid foundation...

so u think i should keep the same motor and get the lsd trans? then wen time comes start rebuilding. because im never gonna sell this car by the time im ready to sell it im jus going to be losing money so its not worth it

i agree. you should start w/ the lsd tranny and upgraded clutch/flywheel. 123k on that motor is nothin. hold off for now, save your money than work on the motors internals. your tranny set up will be ready for lots of power. good luck!

a healthy h22 should easily get 250k plus on it. if you do a rebuild it's almost as good as a new motor. you are rebuilding/replacing the internals of the motor thus making it "new" if you wanna keep your motor in there and rebuild a diff one i have an 01 h22 from my 5th gen that i'll be selling soon if you're interested.

Emerson is a jewel in the roughEmerson is a jewel in the roughEmerson is a jewel in the roughEmerson is a jewel in the rough
if it aint broke don't fix it (replace it)
Check the engine out (compression test? am i right? lol) If thats all good get a 5 speed swap (a must! it will save u in the long run) and since you got so much money lsd tranny, and you still got lots left over!

Trade it in
for a 2001 SH with low miles. Then you can skip the LSD and tranny swap. And maybe you can find one with low miles. And why not also have it bored out to 2.3L?

has anyone tried to price a brand new engine/tranny from Honda?
I assume it will cause an arm and a leg...
