Cabin filter vs. A/C filter

I just want to confirm, is the A/C filter the same as cabin filter in our 5g?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm facing the situation and want to change the cabin filter - when I have air/heat turned on.. the air coming out of the vent smells like ammonia(in other words - pee). But when I turn on the A/C, the air doesn't have that smell...

I have searched the forum and found a topic about changing the cabin filter behind the glove box. But after I checked what the member said and the service manual, they are saying that is the A/C filter. I'm wondering if the A/C filter and the cabin filter is actually the same filter or there's a separate filter somewhere else...?

The way I understand the system works (and if this is wrong feel free to correct me) is that one filter filters the fresh air from outside, and one filters the air from inside the car.

yeah... I know it's a tad expensive.. but the part I don't get is that having the A/C won't have the smell even when I have the circulation off(meaning getting air ifrom outside)

I mean I just hope I'm changing the right filter.. not because someone/animal took a piss on my radiator grill or something..
cuz there was a crazy mofo who took a dump between the passenger side front and back wheel of my co-worker's A3 and hope she'll run over it(she was lucky I was going out to lunch with her)

I just can't stand breathing in pee at times(so strong that air freshner doesn't work).. and rolling down the window/turn on A/C isn't really a fix for it.. if anyone has more idea or shared the same experience.. please do let me know..

When you pull the air filter try smelling it if every time you turn on your air and it makes the whole car smell like piss then when you smell your filter it should also smell like piss

On thing I was wondering was what if you sprayed you air filter with like frebeeze before you put it in would every time you turn on the air you car smell good? like a hidden air filter?....
