Just about any change you make from the factory specification sheet is illegal. The difference is in the amount. Somebody local care to chime in?

Intakes by AEM are 50 states legal and I believe DC makes legal exhaust

A jackson racing supercharger is 50 state legal, but you can't get 92 octane gas out there can you?

The big thing is just look for a CARB approval number when buying parts

we had 92 up to maybe about six or seven years ago. since then, it's been 91.

the only way an aftermarket manufacturer can get an exemption order (eo) on their product(s) is to prove that it performs at or better than factory emissions. if you go to a smog station, they will check for the eo number. sometimes, it's a sticker; other times it will be stamped on to the product. the smog station will fail you if they see aftermarket emissions related parts with no eo number. there are some guys who will let you slide though. my rsr exhaust does not have an eo on it, but the place i go to passes me every time, because my emissions are good.

now on the flip side of the coin. there is a catch all in the california vehicle code that says anything that is not factory is illegal. so if you get pulled over, technically, the officer can write you up for everything that you have changed. smart thing to do is to nod, and say thank you sir. don't piss him off.

yea bro here in this lovely state of cali you will get writen up for just anything you do, and i'm sure you already know if your car looks like it's used for street racing you'll be pulled and searched.

BTW i don't know if you've heard but now in Sac if your car even "looks" like it could possible used for street racing, they crush it no questions asked.
