question about buying my lude

Found a lude in Massachusets today, i'm from southern maine and my question is if i went to look at this car and bought it, how would I drive it home? It has no plates on it..Also its by a private seller. Do i just put the plates he had on it till i get it home or somthing? How do you go about doing this.. thanks

lol the 100% correct way is to tow it buuutttt we know how that goes. you want to drive it.... just put tag applied for and make sure you call it into your insurance before you buy it so at least it will be covered.

You look at the car, do the transaction and get the title from the owner. He/She will sign it over and you go back to Maine, to your DMV and register it and receive Maine plates. Then, you go back to bean-town and put the registration sticker and plates and drive it back to vacationland.
After that, rule the world...

wow damn so i got to travel there twice? my dads still being gay about the whole thing, thinks its too many miles and that it will somehow break. 119 is pretty low to me. talking out of his a$$ like usual. still waiting from an email from the guy too see how good of shape its in, i still want to go look at the thing to see for myself. dad wants me to get some pos cavalier or smothing like that, im thought yeah im nto spending 3500 of my own money on somthing as crappy as a cavalier when i can have a sick lude for the same price.. ill see what i can doooooo after all it is my late bday present and my graduation gift. I want somthing im going to be happy with, not some pos cavalier..

119 miles? that's still a baby. Honda's run forever...believe me, i've owned many, many Hondas.

Well, i mean, if the owner of the car is willing to let you drive the car up to Vacationland with his original, Mass plates, then you can drive it up home and mail the plates back. But, some people wont go for that...actually, not a lot of people will go for that idea unless it's really local...but seeing it's out of state your chances are slim.

yeah thats what i thought, plus i dont see an inspection sticker on the car either, so i have no idea if he hasnt driven it in a while or not. I know hondas run forever. my dad seems to think that stuff will go wrong with it after 100k and is telling me all this crap about how hondas are extremely expensive to repair when they need it. It just pissed me off so much because i know there very reliable.. I don't know what to say to him, mabye ill just save up like 5 grand and buy one myself, then he can't bitch. plus all i need it for is commuting back and forth to college this fall, i only need it to hold up for 2 years after taht i can buy myself somthing else, but i wouldnt id drive the lude forever :)

Honda parts are not that expensive; honestly.

Now, Audi, BMW, Mercedez parts are unreal-expensive.

good luck man, hope you get that Lude!!

Do it legally, I have a friend that tried putting plates from a different car just to get it home and got busted.

Check with your Department of Motor Vehicles in Maine and also call Massachusets to know their law since you will have to drive it in both States . But here in Virginia you can purchase a temporary transit tag or sticker to put in the window so you can get it home I think it cost like $10 or less I forget. So I would call you Department of Motor Vehicles.

Well I think someone did some research and found out that only 58,000 5th Gen's were ever made. Plus finding one with a 5 speed and low miles is rare and exspensive.

I'll find one eventually, i think i need more cash though. only got 4 grand. ill need another grand to get somthing actually good with lower miles. I want to keep it for a long time too, through college and for a few years after at least, so i actually do want somthing with like 110k or less. i've seen them around just dont have the money yet. I want one bad :(
