wigglin' steering wheel

ok the steering wheel has been wigglin/move back and forth at a certain speed I think around 40-50 mph, it is especially strong when I step on the brakes...getting annoying. ...i know that i lowered it (not too low) and put in new rims since I bought the car...and the owner before me switches tires back and forth between winter and summer tires...could it be balance or alignment??this has been going on since i bought my lude...can someone help me on this?? thanks in advance

take the tires to a shop. Some may do it for free or like $10 bucks to check.

easiest solution first: put your stock wheels back on to see if the new rims aren't balanced correctly.

but you said it gets worse when you step on the brakes, which is most likely a warped rotor or 2.
check the wheels first since thats the easiest tho.

It could be a wheel balance problem, Warped rotors, or your ball joints can be going
Check to make sure all the lug nuts are at the Correct torque specs.

To check the Ball joints, Lift a front wheel off the ground and grab the tire at 12 & 6 and try to rock it back and forth, If it has play then your lower or upper ball joints are bad. To check the tie rod ends grab the wheel at 3&9 and rock it. If it has play check to see if the tie rod is moving with the wheel. If you can rock it and the tie rod ends don't move then you tie rod ends are bad. check both sides.

i agree with the above...could possibly be your tie rods too...tire balance, alignment, worn tie rods and or ball joints, can cause steering problems...or in your case, shaking in the steering wheel...your rims could also be bent...or like like twokexlv6coupe said, warped rotors..

I would start with the wheels but it is going to be rotors.

Did you feel anything in the brake bedal or was it all in the stearing wheel.
