Help! 95 Lude CEL Woes.

Hello, I am a new member today.
I just bought a 95 prelude. Plenty of zip from the 2.3.
The problem is when I drive it 5 miles or so.
The CEL comes on, it seems to run ok with it lit. I can stop, cut the car off and start it up right away and it will stay off for about 5 more miles or so, then there it is again.
I checked the codes , but no blink whatsoever. The light comes on when I hit the switch, then it goes off.
This car has 140000 mile on it, I just don't want to be broke down anywhere, and want the best MPG I can get from this Lude.. Any help would be great. Thanks, Rob. Dealer777 at aol ;)

are you sure your checking the codes correctly?
ANY time the CEL comes on, even for a split second, it stores it so that you can check what it was.

follow this tutorial:
How To: Diagnosing Your Check Engine Light (OBD I)

except the picture doesn't show the right connector. its supposed to be a blue connector with 2 pins, not 3.

The plug I was checking had two wires, but it was yellow. Wrong one. After reading your replies, I looked for a blue one and BINGO. Codes 1 and 41. Now to the batcave to figure those out. Thanks for all your help.
Rob.

Well that's good... now you know that the problem lies with your Heated oxygen sensor, and the heated oxygen sensor heater (sounds a bit redundant lol)

So that's what code 1 and 43 is? 1 seems simple, 43 on the other hand I', not so sure about. Is that something that can be done by me?

Now I see I typed 41 in the first post, it showed 43. to much time with my head upside down looking for the plug. LOL

I thought you said 1 and 41? And yes, those are what those codes mean... the codes were listed right in that link that twokelv6coupe sent you =P.

It sounds like you just need a new O2 sensor... I'm not really sure about the o2 sensor heater.. but that problem might go away with a new o2 sensor...

Also, you might wanna check to make sure it's actually hooked up and the harness is good.

download the 5th gen service manual located in the FAQ's, and it'll walk you through step-by-step how to diagnose the Fuel Supply System CEL.
its also a GREAT resource to have ANYTIME your having any sort of trouble with your car.
