K&N w/ OEM Intake...No Res.

OK guys I've decided to go with a K&N filter on my OEM intake, but i want to take out the resonator how would i go about doing this?

Just for the sake or future viewers of this thread do you guys think this is a good set up?

The reason i want to do this is because well for 1 its way cheaper and it'll give me the sound I'm looking for; since After market intake give little or no gains and are pretty much just sound. And 2 because Cops here, in cali, are always looking for little things like an intake to bust you on. So its pretty much to save me some money for other mods and to save me some hassle with the Po Po.

also do you guys think i should take off the Butterfly Controller..would it help or even do anything for the engine..good or bad..

Thanks in advanced for the help.

The resonator in the bumper? Pull the bumper off and then undo the bolts holding it there.

Yes, I think it's a good setup. The factory resonator is really only there to shut it up, because Honda's bean counters thought the car was a luxury model so it had to be quiet. There are people who harp on about how the resonator has a neat twin chambered design that improved rolling accelleration, but they forget the obvious - that it's called a resonator, and by definition it's primary purpose is to reduce noise.

And you can always put some ducting from the front up to under the airbox to cancel that out anyway.

I've had a K&N drop in in my car for a while, it's definatly a better thing than the OEM paper one.

Ok man. what you need to do to get the front bumper off.

step one. take out your inner blinkers

step two. there will be some 14mm(i think ) bolts right behind were the blinkers were ( use a flash light you'll find them your smartish lol )

step three. pop the hood and on the out side of the batt tray you see a 12mm bolt that is just under the head light. take that off and then look for one on the drives side.

step four. there are two bolts 10mm (one on each side ) on the very tip of the bumpers inside the wheel wells(Behind the fender liner) take them off.

step five. there are two or more plastic screws up under the front bumper behind the lip, off they go.

step six. take the plastic screws on the front bumper in front of the hood latch.

Oh and unplug the other blinker lights man. that should be it your front bumper and bumper support will come off as one so get ready to lift it up man.

I do what I can man. I'd like to see some one use a cheap ebay intake tube and the stock air box.

You can go ghetto and take out the bottom of the air box and rubber band your filter to the top of the intake. Unless you're looking for it, it looks stock. I rocked like that on the 4th gen for a while.

I don't know if your stock intake with K&N will give you the sound that you want....because that's what I running and I can't hear a thing. If you really want a loud intake get a V2.

Or be smart and just cut the bottom of the box off so it still clips together.

Well look at your air box.....you know the part that has the little tube that goes down into the fender well.....take that and cut most of it off so the filter is more exposed.....It will make more noise like a short ram but theres no point of it really.
