My 4th gen is officially a classic...

...having passed its 30th birthday this week. According to my records, it was built in October '91, shipped to California, and I bought it right around Thanksgiving...the first new 4th gen sold in the Sacramento Valley. 280-odd thousand miles later, it still makes a run to work periodically. (eMatthew would be horrified with my garage -- a 281k Prelude, a 310k Miata, and a 58-year old truck of unknown mileage!) I'll probably decline the offer of an antique tag next year, but it'll qualify!

And like all other mistresses, she has a list for me...have to figure out the intermittent short to the gas/temp cluster that cropped up this week...find someone with the special tool to bleed the ABS...find a new cruise control master switch...eventually some bodywork and paint.... It never ends!

Yours is one of the early ones. Must've had people visiting their Honda dealer to do a double take after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen look. Some saying "right on Honda", others saying "wtf Honda"……

The 4th was my favorite one to drive.

Re: My 4th gen is officially a classic...

It was interesting...we did a couple of long road trips that year, plus my traveling back and forth to autocrosses, and didn't see another 4th gen for a good six months. People would come up at gas stations to ask me what it was. I think that factored into the price I got...they wanted to get it out in public, and I was the first guy to make an offer. And I have found some different parts on it from cars even later the same model year. The instrument cluster I'm working on -- from a later '92 Si -- has a different circuit board than my original one, although it's interchangable.
