H23a3 head on F22B dohc block

So I ran into a 95 lude in my local junkyard with an h23a3 in it and was wondering what I would need to install the head onto my f22b dohc. I've been looking for g-series builds but most are h22, h23, and sohc f22b threads. I know I need a new timing belt, water pump, belt tensioner along with getting the head resurfaced, and a new head gasket for good measure. Could I just use an h23a3 timing belt, water pump and tensioner? I've been reading that I could probably use a f22b1 head gasket.

The reason I want to do this head swap is because my f22b is burning oil due to what I assume is a bad valve seal.

I also read that putting on the h23a intake would give me a few more horses.

Re: H23a3 head on F22B dohc block

You have to rebuild that swap engine also - its not direct drop in. Both engines are rated 160hp so the difference is h23 block which you're not planning to use so no power gains coming.

You would need custom map/tune/ecu for it then - chipped ecu and tune so that costs also so I don't see any benefits

Rebuild your current engine or get swap engine and rebuild it - no reason to make it more complicated than that unless your piston rings are gone

Re: H23a3 head on F22B dohc block

It's not so much oil, or else it would have been picked up during the smog test, so I think it's most likely a valve, but yeah I see where you're going with it.

To rebuild the f22b, could I use h22 or h23a non-vtec parts except for rods and other obviously different parts like cams and gaskets? I'm using this guide to look for parts. https://badasstuning.wordpress.com/f22h23/

I have tried looking for rebuild kits, but most are extremely vague in the parts that come in the kits and I feel safer buying the parts individually.

There's also this gasket kit https://www.ebay.com/p/92-96-Honda-F...6198013&chn=ps.

Re: H23a3 head on F22B dohc block

just buy all the oem seals & gaskets from honda

take your head to machine shop and let they inspect it (you want to resurface it anyway after taking it off) - they should know what parts to new there

then timing stuff (oem honda or gates), maybe new clutch and youre good to go

@SoFlaKidd I'm probably gonna build either an h22 or h23 while I use the f22b. I need my lude to get to school and work rn so anything that would take me longer than a day would be inconvenient rn.

@TypeT I'll look into the parts, thank you very much.

so basicly you cannot do anything - just get another car if you cannot work with your current one which means that youre not driving it for a while
