1992 Si Door Locks

Hello!

So we have found our first problems. To start, the keys that are for the doors and trunk...they aren't for this Honda. So we need new door locks and trunk lock. Any ideas on where to buy them? Should we just go to a junk yard?

Also before you ask, we thought about getting the car re-keyed but not only is that expensive but one of the locks is about to fall out of the door.

Re: 1992 Si Door Locks

You can pull from a wreck, but will they have the keys? You might check with Honda -- while Prelude-specific parts are hard to find, parts that are common across many models and years can still be had. It's almost certain that they didn't fit a uniquely-designed lock cylinder to Preludes.

Also...one key is supposed to fit all the locks and the ignition...so you have a separate and working ignition key? Or do you need a new cylinder for that, too?

Different keys from the ignition. She is...special. The plates aren't her's they were stolen (that is why the car was towed) The Engine was replaced I guess since the DMV said she should have 330,000 miles. It is just a mess...a Frankenlude.
