1993 Prelude Si H23A Radiator Fan Issue

So I've been dealing with some overheating issues with the 93 Prelude. I tracked down a large coolant leak coming from the connecting pipe leading to the thermostat and housing. Car is running great now.

My problem is with the passenger side fan. The fan motor is still good. The relay is brand new. The thermostat is new. No more leaks. System was bled.

The car is now stable enough to heat up to operating temp but when it reaches operating temperature the wrong fan engages. The AC fan comes on to cool the motor instead of the the radiator fan.

ECT switch A on the thermostat housing is powering the AC fan and the ECT switch B on the water inlet is powering the radiator fan.

This is the first time the fans have ALMOST worked properly since I had the car.

Any help would be great..

Side not the AC compressor siezed up so the vehiclevent doesn't actually have AC, just a fan.

Check fuses, temp sensors (all 3 of them) and make sure fans are plugged right

Both fans are ok?

Yeah everything looks plugged in and both fans can be jumped to turn on.

All brand new fuses in under dash and hood.

Which sensor are you considering the 3rd one? Thermostat housing and water inlet are A & B.. is the third one on the bottom on the outside of the radiator?

Re: 1993 Prelude Si H23A Radiator Fan Issue

I didn't see two there but I will definitely check for it after work today. I hope I didn't completely miss a sensor. My manual doesn't mention anything there..

The power supply to the AC fan motor doesn't look factory. But that's the fan that's working..

Car has a new Waterpump and timing belts, new thermostat and cooling system was bled.

I thought the ECT on the thermostat housing was responsible for the radiator fan?

Re: 1993 Prelude Si H23A Radiator Fan Issue

Atleast with h22 theres 2 sensors which give signal to ecu to give signal to third on thermo housing to switch the fan on... Dont know then how does the system reacts when you take ac system off

Perhaps someone wiser can help you there

Have you used oem parts when you have newd stuff there?

Re: 1993 Prelude Si H23A Radiator Fan Issue

I will be reinstalling ac when I can get ahold of a compressor. And work out the rest of the kinks in the AC. Just wanna get the car running healthy for the lady to drive first then gonna figure out all the problems.

Re: 1993 Prelude Si H23A Radiator Fan Issue

Changed two of three of the sensors. Drained all the coolant that was in it. Car took 45 minutes to warm up completely. Still the AC fan coming on when it gets warmer.. doesn't overheat yet.
