Icon5 F23A1 into my 96 Lude

Hello all. Been quite awhile since my last posting, but I'm curious on what all would be involved to swap an F23A1 into my 4th gen. I've searched and searched and searched and have been unsuccessful in finding any information on this swap, probably because no one has ever had a reason to do it. I was directed to an older thread on another forum, but it no longer exists. And before people start asking, no, I will not just put an H series in it. I'll be getting the F23 for dirt cheap, and there are no H series cars where I live to get a swap from. I'll put it to you this way. There are 4 registered Ludes within 50 miles of me. I have 1, my brother has #2, a friend of ours has #3, and the 4th one is sitting in someone's backyard, and I owe $200 more on it. So please, no H series swap talk, or swapping heads, etc. My Lude has an F22 in it currently, with an M2L5 trans (very long gears, I know). This setup is factory, with 260k miles on it. I know it's reliable, but I also know it won't last forever. This F23 has recently come up near me, and I jumped on it. Mechanically sound motor with trans, harness, and ECU for $150. Guy said the harness got messed up and so now the security system won't let it run. With all that being said, can I swap the F23 right in? I'm not looking to make boat loads of power, but the extra torque would be nice, as would having VTEC. I'd like to keep my trans IF POSSIBLE because 1) it gets me great mpg and 2) I already have a full bearing and synchro kit for it. If it won't bolt up for whatever reason, I'm prepared to make my peace with it. I've heard the only think to be done to make the motor fit in a 4th gen is swapping to an F22 Accord driver side mount, but I don't know if that is true or not. But ideally, it'd be my motor and trans out, rebuild my trans, bolt my trans to the F23, swap the one mount out, either repair the harness or get another, use the F23 ECU, and throw everything back in and have it run. All I'm asking is if someone can confirm all that, or can they inform me of what else will have to be done if it won't bolt up. I appreciate any information. Thanks guys.

Trans will work all H/F trans work except SH model (m2u4)

F23 with aftermarket header and exhaust upgrades are not that bad engine I could imagine

Thank you very much for that info. Any ideas about the mount?

Thank you! It's better than an F22, and everyone has an H series. I'd like to be different. My brother just had his crank pulley fly off his H22, so I've got a bad taste in my mouth for them. As far as this swap goes, it's dirt cheap so far, and I'll have a little more power all around.

cant really compete with H's but could suit your needs.

but I wouldnt bother if theres nothing wrong with your current F22, unless you just get the F23 for fun and open it and then rebuild it with new gaskets, seals, timing components and so on... in powerwise the difference is pretty minimal

if youre still doing it - do that exhaust upgrade along with it

Not very common problem - bad luck or someone did poor job installing that.
Rockers and FRM cylinder walls are the weakest point of H's IMO

Re: F23A1 into my 96 Lude

I planned on freshening the F23 up so I could buy myself some time. I'm kinda SOL if my F22 takes a dump, so I need to have a backup.

It's A cool idea, why not just do F22B DOHC? You'll still get better performance all around but no VTEC, or maybe H23 VTEC?
