Jdm H22a Engine Swap Problems

I just recently purchased a 4th gen Prelude after having a 3rd gen for a few years but the H23a1 that was in it was no good so I decided to swap it for a H22a. Well I just got through with the swap and I realized the plugs from the distributor to the stock wire harness didn't match up so I swapped the distributor from the H23a1 but I'm not getting any spark. What should I do?

In short you have no spark because you left a wire on the back of your engine unplugged.

The original engine had crank angle sensors on the oil pump housing reading the pulley that drives the timing belt. The replacement has those censors inside the distributor as well as the ignition coil hence the extra wires. Keeping your old coil and dizzy would be much more involved as you would have to transplant the sensors as well as the timing and balancer belt pulleys from the old engine. TBH I think you would have to transplant the whole oil pump, which is even more involved, because the h22a pump doesn't have the mounting points for the sensors to my knowledge.

The far easier solution is to rewire your harness for the dizzy that came with the engine. This is not that difficult and I will try to find a write up for it. FYI, if you go this route you will have a 99 - 00 civic si dizzy for parts like cap, rotor and coil.

It looks like 96 was the first year they did this. If you have an earlier year you may need to dig more. There are only so many reasons you wouldn't get spark.
