Re: Never Ending SHOCK KNOCK Problem!!

From my understanding, shock knock in Preludes is commonly caused by the top mount not the shock itself. There is an issue where the rubber isolator perishes and allows movement of the inner sleeve a little which then can make metal-on-metal contact. Some have had success by adding washers into the top mount to take up this extra movement, however it is not expensive to just get new rubbers for them. When you got the coilovers did you re-use the stock top mounts?

The issue might not be related to the top mount at all too. I know from experience that knocking in the lower suspension assembly can echo and sound like it is coming from the strut top. This could be from worn bushings or in my case from a busted sway bar mount.

Re: Never Ending SHOCK KNOCK Problem!!

My son and I have been fighting a creaking popping noise in the front end of his 5th gen for a long time. Everything in the front suspension has been replaced except the actual coils. Really frustrating. Pretty much stops if we remove the end links and sway bar. Replace end links twice and even pulled a jy sway bar. When we put it back together it starts off quiet but noises come back. we had to do an engine swap and went over every nut bolt and bushing and still have issues. Thinking off doing coil overs but hate throwing parts at a problem, Good luck with your issue and let us know if you fix it.
