Put a new OEM distributor on my h23a3 because the old one had oil in it,prob just an o-ring but why rebuild when you can buy a nice shiny new one...Any way turned the cams to TDC and slapped it on,put the new rotor and cap on and the car wont start.Figured i had it 180 somehow so took it all off and put it back to TDC.Thats when I realized the cam gear on the right is off like 20% when the left UP arrow is at 12:00 the right one is like 10:00. Is this why I cant start the damn thing up? And if so how the hell did it run just fine before?

Re: Change distributor, now it won't start.

I had a miata that i changed the timing belt on, i thought i left the cogs in place when doing the process, turns out one slipped a few teeth, and the car ran at like 50% power. Took it all apart, re did it, all good.

Moral of story - take a fine look at what you did and anything that you may have of missed or overlooked. Timing may be off. Or you pulled a full retard and hooked up the wrong spark plug wires to the wrong terminals.

Try rotating the rotor 180……… Again
It may be backwards. Happens often.
