Icon5 F22b dohc to F22a1 sohc Swap

Hello everyone and thanks for having me here.
I'm no Mechanic at all but i like working on my vehicles, learn something new and get experience from it, this time I need help.
Ok here's my thing.
Couple of months ago i bought a 92' Prelude Si DOHC F22B auto non vtec, but they swapped the engine to a F22A1 SOHC non vtec, they also swapped the ecu from P14 to a Pt6 I got it like that, I'm trying to get it to start but no luck. It has an external coil, the harness has two (2) plugs that go to the distributor, one (1) of the plugs on the distributor is different and does not connects in to the car harness.
I'll post some pictures tomorrow for better view of my issue, if Anyone have any idea or any experience with this kind of problem Please, Please let me know, like i said I'll try to post some pics tomorrow during the day.
Thank you very much in advance, really appreciated.

So the non vtec DOHC engine you're talking about is the H23.

Knowing that maybe you can search the web better and find an answer.

Good luck

Thanks for replying back, they're both non vtec but the original was a F22B dohc and the one right now is a F22a1 sohc. I'll look for more info on the Internet. I join this site thinking the maybe somebody had this issue before or experience on swapping engines. Thank you anyway man.

It doesn't have to be -- the JDM F22B is a pretty common swap for 4th and 5th gen cars...in fact, it was a 5th gen engine option in their home market.

You may be the first -- usually that swap is in the other direction! Not knowing where you are, I can only guess that someone had swapped a JDM engine in, then found it couldn't pass emissions testing, so swapped the SOHC engine in.

But anyhow...the 8-pin connector should plug into the distributor, along with another wire ending in a two-pin connector. The ignition coil should connect to the harness via a 4-pin connector. Whether those are the connectors you found, I can't tell from the shop manual (and it's dark out...not going out to take apart my car!). But that's what you should be looking for.

Yea, i always hear about swapping sohc to dohc, but this one i got it like that already swapped, don't know why they did it or the reason or reasons behind it. I'm sure is just matter of finding the right wires that i need only for one cam instead two. And if not maybe I'll just look for a original F22b dohc. Thanks man

That's the puzzling part-- the F22A1 should have wires with an 8-pin and a 2-pin connector going to the dizzy, and a wire with a 4-pin connector going to the coil. What I think you're saying is that your F22A1 harness doesn't have the wire with the 8-pin...so what plugs in to the distributor?

Re: F22b dohc to F22a1 sohc Swap

Yea, the engine only have a 4pin & 2pin plugs out of the dizzy. The external coil plugs into the car harness, no problem. The 2pin connector also plugs right into harness. It just lefts the 4pin plug from dizzy (blk, grn, yel and yel/grn) into the 8pin plug on harness of car. Help please!!! lol

Re: F22b dohc to F22a1 sohc Swap

Hello everyone, i just wanted to inform you all that finally, finally i got my 92' Honda Prelude Si F22B dohc to F22a1 sohc Swap up and running today. I was having trouble with the distributor part because of the plugs were different, so i got a F22B dohc distributor so i can match the plugs and it works!!! the housing don't match the engine's bolt holes but I'll figure it out.
The hard part is done and over with, the rest should be easier, i guess lol.
I'll keep posting pictures on the project, just wanted to share info and thank everybody for read and reply to this thread, thanx...
