95 SI HELP

My prelude continually surges when at idle in park or neutral. this happened when I filled gas a, added a bottle of gumout fuel injector cleaner and coincidentaly had a guy want to race and went full throttle up to about 90 MPH. When I put it in park i noticed the uneven/surge idle.
Any info would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks,, JEFF

Re: 95 SI HELP

Could've scratched a cylinder wall, could've popped a vacuum line loose, dirty IACV maybe, dislodged some egr crud. Man it could be lots of things. But of u come here talking about street racing you'll be lucky to get much help. You've disrupted your cars Chi...

U might have a stored code or something, but this is usually egr or air leak related. U could have even fouled up the sparkle plugs

Most modern gasoline has detergents that clean as you drive. Perhaps you have been filling up at places like Costco, superstore, Safeway etc that all offer lower tier gasoline. That **** gums up your valves. Fill up at shell or Chevron.

9/10 it's your iacv needing a cleaning/replacing or a vac leak.

Could be air in the coolant too. Mine surged a bit when I had a leaky coolant hose.

oh right, i noticed now the OP wrote "surges".
Ya, if the idle bounces up and down in the most annoying way, that is more than likely air pockets in your coolant, easy fix is to bleed the system.

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Re: 95 SI HELP

Some ppl will go thru the anguish of reading 7 responses and 3 paragraphs of material that's leads nowhere and takes a week. As opposed to searching that little search bar, getting many hits and learning what u wanted plus like 5 or so other things along the way..

It's painful I tell ya, straight up masochism. Sometimes helping is too, haha!
Not to mention forum clutter, yeesh..
