94 prelude si bad gas/temp gauge

I have a 94 si with bad gas/temp gauge and I was wondering if anybody got the wiring diagrams or the connector pinout for those gauges? any help is appreciated.

Re: 94 prelude si bad gas/temp gauge

The two gauges are paired on a single circuit board. I looked for a wiring diagram when mine blew a resistor, but everything I found showed it as a "black box". Theoretically you could repair one, but you're better off finding one from a wreck.

Re: 94 prelude si bad gas/temp gauge

It's funny.. I literally just posted this for another newbie, and I just fixed my gas/temp gauge the other day..

If you're tech savvy here's a link to a post to fix the 4th gen gas/temp gauge.

I just fixed mine the other day no problem.

Beats spending around $70 for a "new" one, that typically will have the same issue sooner than repairing one. Reason being.. While your car is turned on, the capacitors on the circuit board for the gas/temp gauge like to swell up over time and start to leak onto the board and will corrode the traces on the board. But if your solder new capacitors on which are like 25 cents, you'll have a gas temp gauge that will last approximately another 20+ years vs buying a used board that has capacitors on it that are already around 20 years old and likely to go soon.

Let me know if you need help if you choose to DIY.

ps. Welcome to PZ

Re: 94 prelude si bad gas/temp gauge

Sorry, I may have linked it in wrong. Was around 3 am when I did that. Just go on google and type (Prelude Australia gas temp with pics) those key words should bring it up. Let me know if otherwise.

Prelude Australia fuel/temp fix with pictures

Printed that one off for my maintenance file. I still have my old pair -- mine wasn't leaky capacitors (at least, that's not what was obvious), but rather a resistor that burnt up and left a smoking crater in the board. Probably beyond repair, but if I find another, even non-working, I'll probably grab it as a spare. Thanks!
