Car Troubles 93 Si Manual 4ws

My car won't start. When I turn the key, there is one click and nothing else. I have changed the starter and the main relay, but no positive results. The battery is fine with a charge of 12.6 Volts. The only thing that I have noticed is that when the key is in the on position, the interior lights and radio turn on, and when I try to start the car, the lights dim and the radio shuts off. As the title states, it is a 93 Prelude Si 4ws, manual. It was working perfectly fine before this. I turned my car off for maybe 5 mins, and that happened.
Thanks for reading.

Check the clutch safety switch.

All Gen. Prelude Service Manuals

Happens to a lot of folks.

You might also rethink the battery. How old is it? Just because it gives a no-load reading of 12 volts, and has enough juice to run the lights and the radio doesn't necessarily mean there's enough left to start the engine.

Also have a good look at the battery wires for corrosion, especially the ground strap.

Re: Car Troubles 93 Si Manual 4ws

^^ yeah, that would be a better start.
If memory serves when the safety switch has issues you don't get that "click".

My mechanic showed me why a battery that read good on the meter wouldn't start the car. He checked each cell individually and found when adding all 6 voltages you get 12+, but the dead cell was like 1.5 volts, and all 6 have to be 2 in order to have enough oomph to crank the car.

After checking (and cleaning if need be) take the battery to a parts store and have them test it.

Thanks for the advice. I actually have tested the battery in another vehicle and it worked perfectly fine. I am thinking that it has something to do with the starter cut relay. I have ordered it and it should be here Wednesday. I will update you then.

So the Relay didn't work. I asked my mechanic and he said that I might have something to do with the radio and or viper alarm system put in by the previous owner. I was going to go through all the wiring Friday to see if I could find a short or anything that could cause electrical problems. Hope that works.

Are there two clutch switches? Is it like this? This is a picture of a 93 civic hatch, but logically it should be the same, right?
