Upper control arm & knuckle replacement

Hey guys,

Im hearing a noise in my front right wheel area.
The noise is kind of like a clicking, metal on metal, and it coincides with the speed of the vehicle.
I thought it was my axle but I took it to a shop to have it looked at and apparently I need a new uca and knuckle.
Where exactly is the knuckle and how's it look like?

Please help and thanks!

Re: Upper control arm & knuckle replacement

The knuckle is what connects the upper control arm to the lower control arm.

I guess nothing came up when you searched for an image in google?

Re: Upper control arm & knuckle replacement

Strangely enough a google image search for "knuckle" turns up some truly disturbing images, none of which are car related.

Study these pics:

Parts 9 & 11 in pic 1 are your lower arm, the knuckle mounts into the round bit on the very right hand side. The bushings in this arm can wear out and can cause knocking.

Pic 2 is the knuckle and upper arm. The knuckle (parts 2 & 4) is one big heavy bit of cast steel, if it fails then you have bigger problems than a clicking noise. The front wheel bearing goes in the big hole at the front and makes noises just like you described when it's worn out, this can be removed from the knuckle so the whole thing does not need to be replaced. The upper arm on the left of the pic can either be serviced using Honda parts or more commonly you can just buy a whole new assembly reasonably cheap which comes with new bushings and a new upper ball joint.
